Would anyone like to shed some light onto the best ways to field Assault Squads? (Note that I mean Codex Assault Marines, not Blood Angels)

What is the optimal Squad size/special weapon loadout/sergeant kit.

Also is there any good reason to field them without jump packs? and if so which way would be best? Drop-poding, or a rhino?

I have used them as a 10 man squad with 2 flamers and a powerfist with moderate success but I just would like to know if there is a better way of fielding them, also some tactics for their use would be most appreciated. :victory:

You're pretty much using them to their highest potential with the loadout that you mentioned. Tactics wise use them to beat on things that your Tactical Squads would struggle with, but don't go after true assault specialists. Assault squads are fine at beating on say Necron Warriors but won't have much luck against units like Howling Banshees. Mostly with Codex Marines though, Assault Squads are at their best when used as a counter-attacking unit. Instead of going and looking for fights, use them to hang back and intercept units that are attempting to cause you trouble.
