WHY PLAY THE UNITY BATTLEFORCE?

The Forces of the Unity is made up of many parts, the Colonials, brave human colonists of a long forgotten expansion, the Naaghrim, notorious (and rightly so) alien corsairs turned mercenaries for hire, Wulfen, the savage warriors of an ancient origin, and the Anzirai, peaceful guardians of their homeworld, forced by war to fight to defend their freedom.
A Unity battleforce’s characteristics are somewhere in between that of the Space Marines, and the Imperial Guard, with slightly better saves than the Imperial Guardsmen, and with somewhat more advanced technologies than the Empire of Man can boast. As a result, the forces of the Unity are a hardened opponent that seeks to bring their own brand of freedom to the universe at large.

The Unities tactical skill is backed up by some of the most advanced technology humanity can boast, from the impassible personal force shield technology of the Anzirai, to the devastating power of the Firestorm Rifle, Cerberus shock battle tank, Predator cannons and Starfury missile launchers. In no other place in the Warhammer 40,000 universe will you find an army so prepared to take on the forces of the Imperium.

RACES OF THE UNITY
The following are the major races of the Unity:

Human Colonists: Arrived on an ancient Colony Ship at Terra Nova Unites (New Earth), survived a confrontation with the Wulfen and Established an United Kingdom with them. Early on they grew friendships with Eldar, and had trade dealings with both them and the Tau. They tolerate the Naaghrim, whom they see as criminal miscreants for the most part, and are close allies with the Anzirai and Wulfen. Will be using several models from several companies for these, one of which (Tactical Infantry at least is going to be the Greatcoat Shock Troopers from Wargames Factory, I will probably build my own grav-tanks

The Naaghrim: An alien race that once traveled in massive craftworld like ships throughout the galaxy. At some point they settled on Lenova. They are a rough and tumble sort of race that I am going to use the Chartonids from Infinity to portray (miniature wise). One of which is a unique character, Valatar Creeg, a former Space Pirate who joined the Unity Forces for profit.

The Anzirai: An alien race of psykers which use Force Blades (using another Infinity Model). Only one of which is found in the Unity Forces. Her name is Asaara Vhen, she is wanted by the Inquisition, and has joined the Forces of the Unity as a way of protecting her people from them. Anzirai themselves are normally a pacifistic race.

The Wulfen: (I believe I will use the Wolfen of Ylia models from Confrontation) seeded by the Old Ones (Slaan?) the Wulfen are related to Wolves. They are a savage race recruited by their Human compatriots for their bravery and close-combat abilities

FORCES OF THE UNITY
The following are all the Forces of the Unity:

HQ
Battle Marshal: The Leader of the Unity Army.
Battleguard: The personal guard of the Battle Marshal Consisting of a Combat Medic, a Company Champion, and three honored veterans.
Relic Bearer: A bear of a sacred relic of the Unity, whether this be a piece of the Colony ship that brought men to the sector, or an alien artifact of great importance. Relic Bearers are part of the Unity priesthood. Typically equiped with Unisoldier Body Armor, and a Relic Blade and Personal Force Shield.
Confessor: Another of the Unity priesthood members, confessors are powerful psykers who can stir the terror that lurks within the Unity's enemies and drive even the most stout of foes from the battlefield.
Techsavant: Half man, half machine, the Techsavant is the master of Unity Technology. They are the head of the R&D department, and as such are often equiped with a wide array of prototype weapons and equipment. They are incharge of Cybernetic Research, and are responsible for implanting devices into the bodies of the Unity soldiers.
Administrator: The embodiement of the Unity Ideology, the Administrators are a political branch of the Unity Forces, serving as a moral compass to temper the Battle Marshals steel.

ELITES
Bloodthirsty Warriors: Honed by years of warrior life, the Wulfen Bloodthirsty Warriors are a harsh and violent assault force. Equiped for hand-to-hand combat, they are ill suited for anything else.
Ghost Warriors: The elite snipers of the Unity Battleforce, Ghost Warriors are trained psykers with powers that allow them to shroud themselves from the enemies sight.
'Hades' Armored Infantry Team: Slow, lumbering warriors with powerful powered armor suits. They excel at ranged combat, but are weaker when closed in hand-to-hand combat.
Mercenary Soldiers: Former pirates, corsairs, and brigands, these Naaghrim warriors are fearless, and stout warriors on the battlefield. Armed with both hand-to-hand and medium ranged plasma weapons they are notorious for doing things "their own way".
Palace Guardians:The Palace Guardians are an elite unit of Anzirai, that rarely take the battlefield, they have psyker powers.
Tethyrian Rangers: While all of the troops that call Tethyr their homeworld are tough, heroic warriors, those that make up the 1st and 2nd Rangers division are the best of the best. They are a lightly armed and armored unit that is used best to infiltrate an enemy's lines and send back useful targeting data. Tethyrian rangers count as a scoring unit.

TROOPS
Tactical Infantry Team: Lightly armored troops (4+ Sv) which serve as the core unit on which the Unity battleforce is built.
Veteran Troopers: Slightly better armed than Tactical Infantry, the Veterans of the Unity forces are a fearsome group of hardened warriors.
Heavy Weapons Team: Consisting of a 1 sergeant and 2 men, this type of troop brings to bear the heavy weapons of the galaxy including Pulse Cannons, and Lascannons.
Cyber-K-9 Squads: A kennel-master and four to nine cyber-mastifs (robotic dogs) make up this rare, and unique unit.

DEDICATED TRANSPORTS
'Icarus' class dropship: A reusable dropship manufactured at Lenova. Enters play pretty much the same way as a SM drop pod, but can be "reused" somehow.
'Firedancer' Tactical Transport Walker: A large transport walker which works somewhat like a rhino.

FAST ATTACK
Anzirai Scout Drones: Quick and Silent these micro-jets are eyes in the sky for the Combat Troopers of the Tactical Infantry Teams, and for the Ghost Warriors. Written by Koyukichan (further into the posts)
Draconian Riders: Human troops mounted on saurian mounts, similar rules-wise to the Rough Riders of the IG.
'Hunter' Class Scout Walkers: Armed with Starfury Missile Launchers, and deadly Railguns these vehicles are devastating at a distance, and deadly in close combat.
'Pegasus' Class high mobility grav vehicles (HMGVEES): A rapid assault grav vehicle (similar in shape to a Humvee) which carries a turreted Predator Cannon (similar to an Assault Cannon), this vehicle can be used to ferry men forward.
Shock Infantry Team: Consisting of 'Winged' Taccom Body Armored troopers these troops are generally the same as the Assault Squad of the SM army list.

HEAVY SUPPORT
'Ares' Class Battlesuit: Lumbering giants of the battlefield, the 'Ares' Class Battlesuit is best suited to close quarters combat. Equiped with Plasma Cutters, Firestorm Pistols and Power Lances.
'Cerberus' Shock Battle Tank: A sleak and elegant weapon of war, the 'Cerberus' battle tank is awesome in its power, and mighty in its toughness. Its main guns are twin Heavy Predator Cannons able to blast enemy units at a range, or tear them to shreds at close quarters. Two Flamers (one for each side) and two Missile Launchers (Frag and Krak) adorn this super heavy giant.
'Guardian' Class Heavy Walker: These superheavy monstrosities are veritable mobile bastions of the battlefield. Armed with Twin-linked Lascannons and a Heavy Assault Rifle, these beasts of war can stomp through troops, crushing anyone in their path.

APOCALYPSE UNITS
'Agammemnon' Class Titan: A Titan. I know very little other than the name of this great mechanical beast.
'Star Viper' Class Multi-Role Fighter: A space capable fighter craft that can be fitted out for either bombing missions or dogfights.

WARGEAR
All of the following is Wargear used by the Unity Battleforce:

WEAPONS
ARCLANCE
Arclances release a terrific burst of electrical energy when they strike an opponent. These weapons are often wielded by Draconian Riders in unison with power shields, combining the immense power of this weapons offensive capabilities with the invulnerability of the shields defensive strength. Arclances use the same rules as a Thunder Hammer (see the Assault Phase chapter of the Warhammer 40,000 rulebook, page 42, for more details).

ASSAULT PISTOL
An Assault Pistol resembles a pistol-like version of a Predator Assault Cannon. This weapon is capable of unleashing a burst of bullets without sacrificing the mobility of its wielder, enabling the bearer to charge headlong into the fray, firing on his foes as he advances.

|Range|Strength|AP|Type|
|24”|3|6|Assault 2|

BANESWORD
Baneswords are two-handed swords sheathed in an armor-sundering force field. Rewards for valorous combat actions, these swords are typically reserved for Unity troopers with a long and honorable record of service to the Greater Good. A Banesword counts as a power weapon whose hits are resolved at Strength 6 and always allows its wielder to re-roll for any failed roll to wound. Due to its greater size and weight, a model wielding a Banesword cannot gain an extra attack for an additional close combat weapon.

RELIC WEAPONS
Forged long ago during the Unification Wars, these weapons are reserved for the Relic Bearers, or for the most valorous of Unity Heroes. Most often a sword or a hammer these weapons count as a power weapon whose hits are resolved as a Banesword, except that they also allow for a re-roll for any failed roll to hit.

Mask presence: This is a psychic power. When you pass a psychic test this unit cannot be targeted by ranged weapons. This test can only be taken once per turn on your turn.

Unit type: infantry
number/unit: 1-5
Force type: elites
Equipment: Azami sniper rifle

Once again a Greek god name so once again divine influence on unit creation. I have made a melee, a template, and a medium ranged so I think this should be a ranged assailant. I picture these guys(girls?) being in slow suits with enhanced ranged support modifications. They aren't easy to move around in (so that explains the slow initiative, and weak melee) but have special aiming devices (hence the good bs). I think it should be a squad of 5 minimum with one unit being able to purchase a special weapon per 5 models. There should be 5 choices. ( Acheron, Cocytus, Phlegethon, Lethe, and Styx)

Anzirai scout drone | 2 | 4 | 2 | 3 | 2 | 4 | 1 | 10 | 5+ | 4+

Eye in the sky: Equipped with advanced targeting sensors, the drone assists supporters in suppression fire.
*when targeting any enemy unit with model within 12" of a Anzirai scout drone, the attacking squad adds 2 to their BS. This only applies to small and large blast template weapons.*

Silent running: Part of the job of scouting is staying hidden from those you're tailing.
*When in terrain the Anzirai scout drone gains a +2 bonus on it's cover save vs ranged attacks*

Unit type: jump infantry
number/unit: 1-3
Force type: fast attack
Equipment: Anzirai force bubble, Assault rifle
Special rules: Eye in the sky, Silent running

Hellfire Troopers | 4 | 3 | 3 | 4 | 1 | 4 | 1 | 8 | 4+
I figure Hellfire Troopers would come with either a weak pistol(free) or a template weapon(+5 points per model) and all the models in the unit must be equipped the same way. I picture them as people in small(weak) enhancement suits with an gas tank built on the back. They definitely need a helmet on the model. (so to prevent skin melting due to constant flame thrower heat)

Ares' Battle-suit | 6 | 0 | 6 | 6 | 4 | 1 | 4 | 8 | 3+
I Picture these guys being slow hulking melee monstrosities. They are named after ares and I quote: "Though often referred to as the Olympian god of warfare, he is more accurately the god of bloodthirst, or slaughter personified." So I think these would be best as melee and not ranged combat or support. Possibly armed with some kind of claw or Axe-like object to tear open heavily armored foes.

Infernace | 4 | 4 | 5 | 5 | 3 | 4 | 2 | 8 | 4+
This would be the heavy version of the hellfires. I thought it would be odd to have the same named unit fill two slots with different things. I picture this as a single model unit armed with a flame thrower, large template blast weapon, and either a weak many-shot gun or a melee weapon. I was thinking a more durable suit similar to a mech with the weapons built into the arms and shoulder. Possibly with a jump pack. Hell from above anyone?

Ilianna Kirov
Sergeant of the 1st Tethyrian Infantry Team

With her lightning intelligence and ever present grace, Tactical Sergeant Kirov of Tethyr has proven that she is well equiped, both mentally and physically, to handle the tasks that her team is given. After successfully defending the Citadel during the Imperial Siege of her homeworld, Kirov was elevated to Sergeant of her homeworlds prestigious 1st Infantry Team.
She has been awarded no less than seven battle honours, and despite loosing several of her men during the recent defense of Polis Karnassus against the onslought of the Hive Fleet Colossus, she has been rewarded with several unity medals, and a medal of valor.
She currently fights in defense of Grandius IV, along with her faithful eldar companion Tanyr.

Planets of the Unity

Terra Nova Unites: The Capital World of the Unity, located deep in the Eastern Reaches of the Galaxy. Terra Nova Unites is a lush and beautiful world that was artificially created by the Old Ones millions of years ago. Its native Wulfen (seeded from Terran Wolves) live in peace with the human population of the planet.

Draconis: Once a hellish world, Draconis has since been terraformed to somewhat liveable conditions. Still many of the planets inhabitants live in the domed cities on the north and south poles, as the planet is still dangerous. The Saurian Riders* of Draconis are renowned throughout Unity Space for their lightning quick assaults.

Tethyr: In truth, a moon of the gas giant Limbo, Tethyr is a vibrant world of dense forests, vast mountain ranges and lush grasslands. Its has two shallow seas which team with an abundance of harvestable sea-grasses, which supply Unity Space with an abundant food source. Tethyr is home to the Citadel, an ancient fortress built by unknown hands. This fortress is the central headquarters of the Unity Forces.

Polis Karnassus: This is a world rich in minerals, and resources. Polis Karnassus serves as the manfucatorum of the Unity. Orbiting the planet is the artificial moon, Lenova, a hive city of immense proportions.

How in the world did you make the table? That would have been useful a while ago.

thank you, the tables make this so much easier to read.
Anyway, heres what I came up with at work.

Name | WS | BS | S | T | W | I | A | Ld | Sv
Hades' Battle Squad | 2 | 4 | 3 | 4 | 2 | 2 | 1 | 8 | 4+

Name | WS | BS | S | T | W | I | A | Ld | Sv

Now for the tactical infantry: They seem fairly decent however, I cant really make an official opinion until I find out what survivor does.
And for the weaponry: I make up my own when I can, but if thats difficult for you, I would take an "official" weapon and just rename it. Still original, but balanced. Sonic were done by chaos marines with good effect, but I'm not sure how emp would work. possibly prevent a vehicle for firing for 1 turn?
Well thats all for now, nappy time.

Nice stats and background for the units. My only one issue is the Sv. I was shooting for 4+ for most of the army. Using Tactical Combat Body Armor (Taccom Body Armor).

However, if 5+ is what these units "feel" best as for the group, then I bow to that decision.

Survivors might grant the unit the fearless special rule (like the one used by the Black Templars). I will work on it though.

New Unit Ideas

Techsavant: Unity version of the Techmarine? I see their being a faction inside the unity of very cyborgish humans, who have assimilated as much alien tech as they can, and now dish it out to the Unity Clergy for army use as they see fit.

as such I am working the "codex" to include both RPG rules as well as Wargame rules, and also Battlefleet Gothic Rules.

I will post some more info later on this concept.

Other units
'Icarus' Dropship (Dedicated Transport)
Valatar Creeg, Leader of the Naaghrim (Unique, HQ, Special Unit)
Naaghrim Mercenaries (Either Troop or Elite)
Asaara Vhen (Unique, HQ, Special Unit)
Tanyr Al'Maasa - Half Eldar (Unique, HQ, Special Unit)
Battle Marshal Abram Stark (Unique, HQ, Special Unit)
Wulfen Bloodthirsty Predators (Troop, Close Combat Heavy)
Draconian Riders (Ride Saurian Steeds)- Fast Attack
Reliquary - A Bearer of a Sacred Relic of the Unity. (HQ)?
Company Command Squad (Free HQ, includes a Combat Medic, a Unity Champion, and three honored veterans).
