Yeah, that is pretty sweet. Does the fact there's only three heads mean that the likes of the Horned Rat haven't actually ascended to the greater pantheon?
It's more likely because Archaon refuses to recognize the Horned Rat as a Chaos God than the Horned Rat actually not being a true part of the Pantheon.
Must admit that this model is f**king awesome! I for one am loving Archaon's new armor, it looks more Saurony than simple Chaos Warrior now, as it should! Truthfully I always found Archaon's actual appearance somewhat underwhelming, I mean his helmet was cool but other then that he didn't look much different to the dreg Chaos Warriors of his armies. Now though, he has armor that Sauron and Darth Vader would envy. And that mount is bloody terrifying, a great example of the powers of Chaos united as one. Hard to believe it's Dorghar, but he definitely looks much cooler than before.
I think perhaps I have found my next GW buy. In fact perhaps Stormcast shouldn't be my ONLY AoS army. :grin:
Do I spot new chaos warriors int the bottom left corner or are they just blood warriors. Impressed by Arhcy none the less however, but at this stage I'm going to get Skarrbrand first.
the Skaven being disliked by Archaon makes for an interesting concept. If the Skaven were to gain as much traction as they seem to be (mind you, the AoS timeline can advance), where would Chaos end up? obviously the Sigmarites, the Seraphon, and whoever else would fight the Skaven, but if they were a bigger threat, would Archaon unite with them? As we know, Archaon isn't an unreasonable person. The leader of the Warriors of Chaos, sure, but lawful as well.
Just a though, the chest armour for the mount is split into two V-Necks, which to me would suggest the option for a two headed mount as an alternative.
Fingers crossed it'l make a generic Lord on Chaos Dragon aswell, instead of this ugly chimera.
Frontline Gaming suggested that Slaanesh is still present on the model, but his, ah, 'head' is in a place where the purple colour scheme would be more appropriate.
Ding ding, Archaon's release date and price has been confirmed;
Archaon, Exalted Grand Marshall of the Apocalypse, will be up for pre-order by November 28th and be on sale December 5th. And he costs a whopping £100, which I think makes him one of GW's most expensive single kits.
I am torn now. Archaon is awesome enough that my decision made a night ago to get a Dark Elf army this month has been thrown into question. Do I want about £150 of Dark Elves, or £75 worth of Warriors of Chaos along with Archaon at £75 (TripleHelixWargames). Tough call.
