I was thinking of writing up an apocalypse mission for my local GW, as we never get around to doing apocalypse games unless someone organises them. (We are pretty lazy). So I thought of doing something based on a daemon world, where each turn (depending on number of wounds caused) a few daemons could pop up, and maybe if enough casualties were caused in a given game turn a 'rift' could open up and give the warpstorm table +2 to its results or something like that.

For the actual objectives, I liked the idea of the chaos side have a ring of sorcerers/dark apostles in the back who are summoning all these daemons, and the imperium/xenos side having to kill all these summoners to stop the flow of daemons, getting either 5 victories point per dead summoner, or simply winning the game if they are all dead.

If any of you guys have any experience creating an apocalypse mission, or just have ideas that you think I could use, any help would be appreciated!

I would recommend to listen to episode 87 of the Independent Characters. I find very interesting/helpful when planning on doing an apoc game.

If you are planning on hosting it at a store I would

A) Check when is a good time/date
B1) have a limited number of people able to attend
OR
B2) Restrict the amount of points/superheavies/lords of war/etc that each player can bring.
C) preferably have the teams be predetermined
D) Balance the teams by how powerful the army/player is - don't put all the armies that have superheavies/death galore all on one side, even if it is fluffy where it would be all imperial vs chaos - no one likes getting their ass handed to them for 8+ hours
E) BREAKS, plan accordingly and efficiently
F) I highly recommend timed rounds - you have 15-30 minutes per phase so if you didn't move/shoot/assault with something then that sucks. (at least with the movement portions of the phases - if the assault just needs dice to be rolled let them roll dice.
G) don't sweat the small stuffs - who gives a shit where the people that died from were pulled from - this is a fun game, not a competition.

FOOD! - it's important yo - make sure people either bring money for pizza or potluck it.

----

As for the actual mission ideas - I would just use one from the apoc book - or a battle mission/alter of war.

Fallen, thanks for the good tips. I should probably have thought about the more important things rather than mission straight up!

The mission is actually pretty easy - you have already created one yourself - just ask the people who are likely to attend if it sounds like an interesting idea - the only critique that I would have would be to just have it on an imperial world and have it be cultists of chaos enacting a ritual (or something) - also probably easier to find chaos players with a bunch of cultists than 30+ sorcerers for your mission - that unleashes the demonic rift.
