i do everything by hand lol, just a steady hand and a good eye. lol, SM are easy though because they are very symmetrical (i think i got that right??) I think the hard part for me was deciding how to undercoat the figures, since the green is so dark, but the white, needs to be white..... i ended up doing a black undercoat.... heres my step by step, on the plasma cannon....(yes... its on a different board lol) http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/320514.page has more pics of my AoR as well. Really the best thing is to have a solid plan for each half, know how to paint each side to color you want, and then just stick to it!I like the split paint job!
I love the action pose of the plasma cannon! + rep!!!
Also what do you find is a good way to split the paint?
Being Angels of Redemption I think the other colour is a beige/cream/ivory colour over white. Like these:Nice. I love the action pose and I love the split pattern color scheme. Not many people do 'em (including me) but they should. One thing though, it might be the picture, but the white paint seems a little too think. White is one of the hardest colors to paint. You should first use a grey foundation paint and build up to white with several thin coats.
Thanks, this is actually one of the pictures i've seen online that made be like "okay.. lets do this" there are some touch ups that need to be done for sure, so i am with you on that 100%, the thinning the paints IS something i am working on, getting it right though has been a problem, i either add too much water.. or not enough.... but yeah i am practicing it.![]()
To the OP, these are some nice Marines. Maybe make sure you paints are thinned down though, as doing 2-3 smooth thin layers will create a better look than 1-2 thick layers. Also halved and quartered schemes are striking when done right. Yours are going well, but maybe slow down a bit to make sure the colours are even. You can see on a few of the heads that the colour-divide if sometimes off centre, nothing a bit of practise and patience can't fix.
