I've been playing a minicampaign with a friend, Orks (him) vs IG (me), set during an ork invasion of an imperial world. I was thinking of suggesting doing a kill team mission set in a museum with a baneblade as the centrepiece - the idea is that the city's main defenses have fallen, and an imperial kill team is sent to secure the baneblade, which someone realized is actually a complete and fully functional (when fueled) baneblade, but running into a mob of orks wandering around and generally breaking things and setting them on fire. My intention was that the side that wins the kill team gets to use the baneblade in the next scenario - the imperium as a baneblade, the orks as a looted baneblade (or if I can't find a datasheet or figure out a fairly costed version, say it was cannibalized to make a stompa, but that's not as much fun and we don't have a suitably huge model - I actually have a baneblade as I ran across a ludicrously underpriced kit a few years back). I just wondered with all the Imperial Armor books, data slates, home brew and what have you, someone might have invented this wheel before.

If actually making a datasheet, should the weapons be substituted with ork weapons or just the existing weapons at BS2?

Baneblade Cannon would change to Deff Kannon (not sure if this is a net point increase or decrease, as it's a smaller blast but higher strength, the BS is pretty irrelevant when dealing with a plate that big)
Autocannon becomes Deff Gun
As to the lascannons, heavy bolters and demolisher cannon, I can see two options. One would be to use relatively conventional weapons (Custom Mega blaster or kannon, twin linked dakkaguns, kill kannon) and the other would be to use mek guns of some kind.

It also seems like there should be a "don't touch that" mechanic, but not as punishing (what's cute in a model that's less than 100 points is not cute in a super heavy worth 500+).

Has anyone run across anything like this or have suggestions?

The current WD looted wagon rules with a slightly stronger set of guns for a extra 50 points or so would prob work for you. Dont touch that is not as harsh as it used to be. Pretty sure there is still a screen shot of the pages with the rules for it in the Orks rumor thread that happened just before they got their new dex.

Or, as you said first, just house rule it based on the existing baneblade data sheet. My friend has done that with a looted stormlord and it is both fun and brutal.

Thanks for the responses. Had a look at the customer open copy of the current apocalypse book, and no skullhammer, alas. For a probable one use item, trying to mangle together a datasheet looks like the best bet. The key thing will be getting the points right (or winning the kill team mission so it's a moot point, I suppose).
