Yet another High Elf list for everyone to browse :grin:

I've already got High Elves, so I'm not just jumping on board with the new edition :p

This list requires a small inverstment to build up to, but not too bad. I still know whether I'll just grab Island of Blood instead, but I'd still have to buy more Seaguard/another Bolt Thrower anyway, plus I'd have a mage and Lord I'd rarely use :/

Anyways, onto the list:

LORDS (270)
Lv4 Archmage w/ Silver Wand (270)
Life Magic for this guy. In higher games I'll take Teclis instead, I've always liked the twins anyway. Basically he's in here just to make sure everything else has a better chance at survival. Dwellers Below should help against mega-units as well. Will probably camp out in the Archer unit.

HEROES (340)
Noble w/ Army Battle Standard, Dragon Armour of Caledor, Great Weapon and Guardian Phoenix (168)
Self-explainatory. Runs with some Seaguard.

Noble w/ Barded Warhorse, Shield, Great Weapon, Dragon Armour, Luck Stone and Temakador’s Gauntlets (157)
This guy will be my General, to take some pressure off my other two characters. He will join the other unit of Seaguard to help them out.

CORE (872)
24x Lothern Seaguard w/ Shields and Full Command (337)
23x Lothern Seaguard w/ Shields, Full Command and Warbanner (344)
Seaguard+Characters should be a solid centre to my line, hopefully with some help from my Life Archmage.
16x Archers w/ Musicians and Standard Bearer (191)
Rank up 5 wwide. They will only lose a couple of shots this way. Just there to shoot/stay alive and more importantly, keep the Archmage alive.

SPECIAL(585)
10x Swordmasters w/ Full Command, Skeinsilver and Banner of Sorcery (255)
Always liked Swordmasters. I know there are tougher bunkers for Banner of SOrcery and would much rather have the banner there. This guys would probably grab Lion Standard in that case (or maybe Banner of Arcane Protection.) Still, at this stage, I'll only be able to grab one unit of elites and these guys wil lhopefully be in plastic. Time will tell.

8x Dragon Prince w/ Full Command, Banner of Ellryion and Terrifying Mask of EEE! (330)
I couldn't help myself. They aren't going to be able to bust through units, but they should be plenty to keep a flank clear. Can hunt warmachines, lone characters, skimishers, Fast Cav or troops in forests in need be. Basically anything without ranks.

Need I explain? Great Eagles are too expensive for my liking. Besides, I loathe metal


Basic plan will be to lock them down in the centre, start grinding them down using Swordmasters and Dragon Princes to tip the combats in my favour, and hopefully break through in a couple of combats.

What's everyones thoughts on expanding to have, say, 3 units of 5 Dragon Princes? They can run round clear up flanks, then charge in to tip more than one combat.

Thoughts?

I like all of it except the SMs- I would just cut the banner of sorcery from them, its far too wasy to kill, and almost all enemy armies will have the magic/shooting to kill 10 elves pretty quickly. Take the banner away and suddenly you'll split their fire and have the SHs surviving a little better.

Just to check- you know that because your general is on a 25mm wide cav base he'll only be able to tack onto the side of a unit of infantry? It means he doesnt count towords ranks and he cant move inside the unit to get into the combat (not really a problem unless its against monsters).

Hmmm, you have a point on the Swordmasters. I wasn't worried about losing the Banner, but losing them might be a loss. If I can squeeze Teclis in, I should be fine to do it though.

I wasn't aware the Elven Steed was on a 25mm frontage, I've never looked at the bases carefully enough, so assumed it was 20mm. This may force me to rethink some things.

All cav bases are 25*50mm, so they fit into infantry units that use the larger base sizes (eg WoC, beastmen, daemons), but not for elven or men units. Personally I think GW should use a second size cavalry base so that empire/elven characters can join units (and I want a new base for my skragg too- he's too large to go into a unit of ogres normally :cray:).

As for the banner of sorcery- yeah, its probably better to have Tecis in the list, if you can afford the extra points: he is +115pts over a book of hoeth Lv4 archmage and comes with an improved 'banner' of sorcery equivalent and a cool scroll... personally I think the only reason to not take teclis is shame :p

Aye, the only reason he isn't in there was I was cramming stuff in. I will revise the list, 90% sure Teclis will be in it :p

Hmmm, it isn't allowed if I turn two 20mm bases into a cav base right? >_>
