Can dedicated transports be added to a formation. IE ... if I used Kroms detachment from Stormclaw could I buy drop pods.

Want to say that you have to use the exact unit layouts listed in Stormclaw.

I have been under the impression Formations say exactly what can be involved in them, with the variable of wargear options for units involved.

Thing is, the Stormclaw units are very specific. There is no extra options or points setup. The Formation then specifies those very defined units as what makes it up. It is not a unit of Grey Hunters, it is Hengist Ironfist's Grey Hunters. His GH do not have a DP.

my understanding is yes...unless specified in formation restrictions..as most formations are built from a certain codex...but i could be wrong
eg. the storm wing...the stormraven can be used as a transport for codex units that have the stormraven entry
im not to sure about the stormclaw.
