I've played a probably 20 friendly games before, but my chances to play are pretty few and far between. So I thought I'd enter a tournament for a chance to play a few games. Don't really care about winning but would like to be competitive. Looking for some feedback on my army selection.

HQ

Belial - 130
TLC

Int-Chap - 145
Termie kit

Troops

Deathwing - 280
Standard, Apothecary, HF, CF, 3xTLC

Deathwing - 235
Cyclone + TLC, 3x SB/PF, SB/PW

10x Tac Squad - 175
Flamer

Fast

Ravenwing Attack - 285
6x Bikes, Attack Bike w/MM

Heavy Support

Predator - 130
TLLC, HB spons

Dread - 125
MM, SB

The aim is to use RW Scout rule and teleport homers to use DW Assault, forming a pincer or hammer and anvil style of attack. Int-Chap attached to banner squad (aka Super Squad of Awesomeness!), Belial attached to other. Wanted the Tac Squad as a few extra bodies, because I have no idea what I'm up against. No ML for Tac though because I want to keep them moving and save points.

I have a bunch of other units at my disposal such as a Speeder, Devs, more Tac, Razorback w/HB, Termies w TH/SH, Termies w SB/PF + 2x AC and Drop Pod. No LR's though, and no funds for it until after the tourney.

Thoughts? Ideas? Trying to go for a fairly well rounded force to take on all comers. Sort of concerned about points of Super Squad of Awesomness being nearly a third of the points. Any vets out there who have had experience with or against that type of squad?

the super squad will be target #1 for the enemy, but that may be good as it will reduce the fire coming at the rest of your army. Personally I dislike the idea of bringing tacticals for bodies, and not having them do much. I would put them in a rhino at least, maybe consider the missile as it will give you some flexibility. The pred seems out of place. I would go with the autocannon/lascannon setup to give you transport busting capabilities and be able to threaten heavier armour. What is the dread going to be doing? If he's walking, I would go for 2x linked autocannon arms, or lascannon + missile launcher configuration.

Hope this helps

If you're going to do a tourney I'd suggest a pure Doublewing list.

Here's an example of a list that I usually play:

HQ

Belial
-Lightning Claws

TROOPS

Deathwing Terminator Squad
-1 Assault Cannon, 1 Chainfist

Deathwing Terminator Squad
-1 Assault Cannon, 1 Chainfist

Deathwing Terminator Squad
-1 Assault Cannon

Deathwing Terminator Squad
-1 Assault Cannon

FAST ATTACK

Ravenwing Attack Squadron
-2 Meltaguns, Attack Bike w\ Multi-Melta

Ravenwing Attack Squadron
-2 Meltaguns, Attack Bike w\ Multi-Melta

1500

More scoring units (so basically more DW Terminators), no CC squads because most (or every) of the termies' squads gonna DS and they need every single shot for maximize the damage when they arrive.

The 2 Ravenwing Attack Squadron provides anti-tank melta goodness and teleport homers for a safe DS (remember also that DW Termies has the DWA special rule), if you need more anti-infantry swap 2 Meltas for 2 Flamers and the Multi-Melta for a Heavy Bolter on a Ravenwing Attack Squadron, with the spared pts you can add 2 Chainfists to the remaining 2 Termies squads.

Hope this helps! let me know how it goes!

for what's considered an obsolete codex, Dub's list is pretty nice. i'd try to fit CML instead of the assault cannons, but this is good too.

good hunting.

I can see what you mean, but consider that DA's CML has only 1 shot; it is 48" range but shooting from distance isn't the DW goal, they excel on mid range since they have storm bolters.

IMO with the Assault Cannons you can take advantage also with the other bolter shots since they are all 24" range; well, not if you are shooting at a vehicle!

Dub's list!?

Thanks for the feedback everyone. Unfortunately my pred has it weapons glued because I didn't find out about magnets until well after it was built (facepalm).

I really like your RW setup sem. I think I overlooked meltaguns for the bikers but they seem like a great idea.

Not sure whether or not to drop the pred or the dread. Will drop 1 of those and the tac squad to fit in another shooty DW. Don't really want to drop the chappy, the Assault termies will benefit from him and even though they will be target no. 1 will be supported by one of the RW squads. Will DS them after I drop the shooty termies via DW Assault so they can lay down some covering fire and thin out enemy troops. They were put in there to try to deal with possible CC hordes (tyranids, orks). I put the apothecary with them to try to make them more survivable.

So should I drop chappy in favour of Sammy? I really like the idea of Sammy in his speeder, I think it looks great and that front armour 14 is very appealing.
