I am just starting an IG army. I used to play Orks, so this is a new chalange. I am making squadrons od Leman Russ and Hellhounds. When starting and during a game do the squadrons have to stay in a group or can they go there seperate ways? I have not played a game in 6 months and was only a novice player. I ned some advice.:headbutt:

I believe by the rule book in 5th edition the squadron will move and fire as a single unit. They really had their teeth trimmed becasue the squadron must stick together. (within six inches)
So no they move together and shoot at the same target.

as above, they must move and fire as a single unit and keep within 4" of each other (if i remember rightly), but be weary of the crapy squadron rules that means if any of your tanks gets immobalised, its destroyed, and hit allocation woorks the same as weith troop squads, you allocate all the hits (both pen and glance) between the 3 tanks, and then roll the damage, and it is possible to lose to all 3 tanks to 1 round of shooting, trust me its happened to me too many time, which why i no longer run squadrons if i can help it, just run a single tank per HS slot. so watch out for glanceing hit, as they will kill your tanks on an immobalised result

Squadrons sound really shitty. Looks like I am scrapping that idea. It will save me some money though.
It depends on the unit taken..the ones you listed aren't the best to squadron, well until you play high points games (2.5K+), where the damage suffered is mitigated somewhat. Units like Hydras, Griffons and Sentinels are fine in Squadrons of 2, and have quite a few pluses going for them...higher firepower output for not a lot of points for 1.

But yea, even in my 3K lists I only squadron the ones I listed, plus Medusas sometimes.
