I was looking for the section of the forum for total noobie questions....... haven't found it yet (I was also hoping to read it so I would not have to ask)

Anyway, I have started working on my SM army list (slowly) when work allows it.... I understand that you put the weapon on the guy (bolter power fist etc) but what about all the other stuff ie auspex, frag grenades, iron halo, purity seals, etc

Does everything you include in the list need to be represented on the miniature and if so what do you do when you want to change something??

Thanks in advance, sorry for the noobishness

you can generally get away without putting everything on the model pal, especially if your not going to tournament, obvious things like weapons etc need to be represented and the model will (should) come with everything you need to represent the other stuff you mentioned but as i say if your just playing some friendly games and not against some loser who wont play you unless everythings wysiwyg you should be ok

Don't worry about asking noobish questions. Thats what where are here for and especially with wysiwyg there is no right answer so it often good to find out everybodies opinions every once in while.

In my opinion as long as the weapons are represent and the mini is obviousy a command model (banner, fancy guilding, heraldry) I don't care what its not got on it.

For units - follow the Fanatsy way of doing it. As long as at least half the unit has got the right equipment you ok.

Hope that helps.

Usually, you just have the weapon on the model, and it is that weapon.

If you want a different weapon, use a different model.

But, IF you specify to your opponent, and write it down, that it is something else and show him your army list, its fine.

But--in tourneys, its not allowed usually.

I cannot even imagine what the magnetic field around my troop transport looks like, All of my turrets on my tanks are swappable because of magnets, in fact, my Termies special weapons arms and cyclone missile launcher are attached by magnets, lastly, my dreadnought is assembled with magnets so I can scatter his remains around the battlefield when he dies.

i suggest these for vehicles

and these for troops

The magnet idea sounds cool, might save me some serious buckage too.

When you put magnets into the models do you drill a hole and actually embed the magnet or is it mounted on the surface.

Lastly, when you guys spec combo weapons (or combi) as in bolter/flamer.... is there something available or do you model something up

Magnets are a cool way to make your model modular, there is also the pin method but the magnets are more popular these days.(Yes, usally set flush to the models surface btw.)

Combi weapons for Marines: I have normally made them up, but some of the Chaos ones can be de-spiked to do the job as well.

Ask the noobish qustions if you have them. That is one of the points of this forum. And in a friendly game, no you don't have to represent the models. I play at GW and sometimes use the store marines to add to my army if I lack the points. Their squads have flamers and i never use them. I always say "Mate, I dont use flamers. These guys are holding plasma guns........ Oh and this isn't really a gaunt........It's a vindicator" disregard that last one. I don't really do that. But in all seriousness, If your friend agrees, you can load up as much as he lets you.
