My favorite blob to do atm in 7th edition is the following:
Mad Doc Grotsnik, Da Painboss 160 pts
30 man boy blob (27 'Eavy Armor Shoota Boys, 2 Rokkit Boys, Boss Nob w/ Bosspole, Power Klaw, Kombi Rokkit) 382 points
Total: 542 pts
What does this high point blog give you?
An anchor for your army to be built around. I just deploy this mass and march it up field. It is fearless, has FNP, and 4+ armor. Plus it can put out a fairly massive amount of dakka. The blob is very hard to push off anything it decides to sit on and as long as you keep Mad Doc alive it can get tougher as it gets smaller in CC due to his rampage rule.
If the player focuses on it, it leaves the rest of your army to wreck havoc with the enemy, it can soak up an amazing amount of firepower while still putting out decent firepower itself. It also makes a great AA unit due to the fact that Orks really aren't all that bothered with Snapfire rules (Overwatch can be hilarious for the same reason). I have killed multiple fliers with this unit while marching up the field.
I find that the cost of the armor is worth it because of the fnp, you can shave points removing it but I think it pulls a lot of power from the unit.
The 2 rokkits and the kombi rokkit give some threat to high toughness/ armor also. Granted it will miss more often than not but I have killed MCs with them before. The dual Klaws are always useful in CC and the boss pole is for those times when Mad Doc goes down.
TLDR: Rock unit is hard and shooty.
