Hi guys, I'm gonna start collecting a 500 points Blood Angels army and I want you guys to tell me if you think that this is a good army list or not.

HQ
---
Brother Corbulo-100 points

Troops
---
10 man Tactical Squad( with a lascannon )-210 points?
*5 man assault squad-140 points

Dedicated Transport
---
Rhino-40 points

Total of 490 points.

*= A blood angels army can field assault marines as troops instead of fast attack.

loose the independent character (im not even sure if you can use one in 1000) but they drain points out of needed space marines, also if you are playing blood angels take assult squads galore, They are troop choices for ba, and if you haven't read the codex, then you won't know how amazing the death company is, you get one model (free) for every squad you have, it's not in front of me now so don't quote me, but good start

very nice start champ..
corbs is great under 1000 pts long as your DC is not incorperating jump packs and are riding in that rhino.. for 100 pts he doesnt have a pow wep but he can control dc, when attacking combined near your RAS he will tuffin there charge attack to S5 I5.
plus he negates a wound with exsaguinator each turn... can be used on rhino if its taking a cover save to... eg smoke or obscured.... words state "ignore failed save" doesnt say it cant be a vehicle :) :) :)

always need at least 1 tac sqd in 5th adition, need the gun power.

nice start...

yes you would my man. It is quite a good start but I think the lascannon would be unnecessary in the tac squad at this size game. I'd personally change it for a meltagun and have 20pts let over, a power weapon in the assault squad and boom... meltabombs too if you're gonna face a tank or 2....

Good start though. It has a lot of potential

At the 500 point level you really don't need a Lascannon. I'd suggest dropping it for either a Plasma Cannon (how's your luck with overheating and drift?) or a Missile Launcher, though to be honest a Heavy Bolter will probably work just fine. You can use the freed up points to buy either a Flamer (if you choose the PC) or a Melta Gun (either of the other weapons) to really boost the squad's effectiveness.

Another trick to consider is that you can save 40 points by dropping the RAS jump packs for their free Rhino. You can then buy another DC marine and give the Tactical Squad some points to play with. Corbulo and a 5 man RAS backed up by the 3 DC marines will give you a serious hammer to the 10 man Tactical anvil.

Great Start But!!!!

This is a great start to a Blood Angels Army however I would ask you how you are going to use Brother Corbulo

I mean he is no slouch in combat strentgh 5 chainsword and feel no pain/furious charge to evryone within 6 inches but you have given yourself limited and distastful options.

1. As Corbulo does not have a Jump pack he cannot join the assualt squad.

2. If you put him by Himself he will not be able to keep up with the Assualt Squad without slowing them down as well as becoming bait to enemy heavy weapons.

3. Put him in the Tactical Squad which practically throws his close combat abilities to a squad that you don't want in close combat

My suggestion is to take some Death Company as they are mean in assualt, have pleanty of options e.g Not take Jump packs while providing some much needed support to him.

But beside he is an elites choice in 5th edition.
Anyway all the best with your new Blood Angels Army

and the death company are their own troop choice now, not the one for every unit thing
