...Fantasy took place on one world, with its land masses all drawn out and discovered (although the East was still a little mysterious). It was such a fixed world that it left designers little to do. It was difficult to add a new faction and tricky to change up units or add anything that was drastically different from what was already established. All that they could really do was bring out newer versions of older models...
While it has indeed opened the door for the designers to change things as they see fit, so far - not a whole lot of difference in the models, faction wise, than what they had in Fantasy.

I still feel that if they went and said "hey, look we are not seeing a return on our investment for fantasy, so we're going to let it go out with a bang..." that GW would have gotten less flak for their decision rather than the silence that we got.
