Now the title is a little misleading but I have suckered you in this far and do have something cool to show you but I need your help. I want to build a crashed Tau BFG Spacecraft in 40k scale as some terrain for my collection similar to the following image

I am however struggling to decide what ship to build. A Manta is too small the Castellan, Emissary or Warden sounds promising and a Custodian is probably a bit too big. What are peoples thoughts?

Now if you dont know your Tau spacecraft that is no excuse to leave now because here is the info:

Suckered? More just confused and intrigued, saw the title had no idea what you ment so jumping in.

As to particular comments for assistance just a thought really. The old battle for macragge used to have an aquilla lander as part of the terrain. This ship is a small shuttle, but when it has come apart and burried iteself into the planet it can lend to more usable terrain. So depending on what you actually need such as line of sight blockers, difficult terrain and what not. Anything up from a tigershark would proably give you what you need but then again some of the larger ships and platforms do offer alternatives fo interesting modeling such as part of a corridor which has been flung from the ship as it re-enters.

Thinking a few ideas to help get your idea rolling further, look at the aquilla lander and the crashed version see how they designed that model. Take a look at aircraft crashes see how the notably weaker sections break off while larger parts of the body sometimes remain intact, as to this think peices that would be jettisoned first such as gun turrets, radio towers and even external bays.

After that just get to work even dodgy work can look great in this case "It came for outer space" so it wouldn't have the clean lines and polished exteriors.

Thats all i got.

Awesome I can work with this, you dont happen to know what Tau ships are similar in size do you?
honestly no, I never collected Tau bfg, however I can tell you that both the Cobra and Sword are among the smallest class of vessel in the Imperial fleets - so you're presumably looking for the smaller Tau ships (bigger than Orcas and Mantas obviously but nothing like the size of a Custodian for sure)

I think I am going to go for a Warden

Dude - post pics of your progress! Please!
Maybe I am a little reluctant to post anything on here where I am given reputation, as I am in a job which means I cannot always be around to post or work on my hobby, it is a little disheartening to return and see it all go

^ dude, you're still hurt over the rep loss?!? Years have gone by, most of the current membership has no recollection of the great Russian hack that stole the old system away. Posting up your awesome work is a way to get it back if the digital cookies are what make you happy.

I didnt even realise it was a Hack to be honest. My job means I work out of the country for months at a time and dont have access to hobby related stuff including forums. I came back and just saw my 'digital cookies' had gone and took that to mean if you dont post, rep points go back down

Ah! Please forgive my presumption...there was a lot of complaining when it happened I feel like a lot of members left over it. Someone hacked the site and everything including the rep was reset. Now there's a system where you can only get one at a time, which in all honesty is a bit better if there even really needs to be a rep system.

I really do think you're creating great work and would love to see more. It's an awesome idea to have crash site terrain!
