g'day guys

just starting to get into Daemons, and was just wondering do people use standards and icons in there troops base. i ask this because they sound good on paper but never see them in peoples lists. Or are they just wasted points that could be used on more Daemons?

If you plan on deepstriking stuff then they can be good. But you kinda need them on fast units to make much use of them as other wise you may have well walked it.
1 good option is a fort with escape hatch, use that to throe a unit a good distance forward and you have a nice strike zone then.
The trouble is with cursed earth you can now lay down a summon / deepstrike friendly zone.
