30k Scouts

There actually is a 30k section. It's under The Horus Heresy in the 40k section of the forums. I can move this thread there if you'd prefer? Otherwise it would probably fit just as well under General 40k, not General Warhammer.

Heresy era scouts are a bit different to their 40k counterparts. Unlike in 40k, 30k scouts are not new recruits who have yet to earn their power armour and become full members of their respective legions, but instead veterans who excel at recon. In 30k they are known as recon squads and can either don modified power armour or recon (IE carapace) armour.

My guess is no they do not, though I'm having a tougher time finding the models your talking about. The images I do find of the original lost patrol, because GW remade and did a limited release in the last year, give me more of a Catachan vibe than space marine scouts.

How so?

I think I have some of the old mohawk scouts in both metal and plastic that came in the advanced Space Crusade box many years ago. They did look much better.

Not sure the new ones look "gay", though. Is there a strap-on or gay pride badge I'm not seeing?

vintage 40k always looks cooler Mohawk scouts are the best no question.

I just noticed that the scouts in that cover pic are from various different chapters. I never noticed that before, and I owned the game at one time.

Space wolfs wearing red? as well as the dark angel, blood angels always try to convert people to their vampirism:threaten:

Not entirely sure where your seeing Space Wolves in that picture. Its a mix of Blood Angel and Dark Angel scouts and possibly an Imperial Fist scout.

Also, like I told you before, not vampires.

The most central scout with upraised blade has a wolf head on his belt, and pelt around his waist.

Wasn't there talk in one of the White Scar HH novels of a central training depot from which initiates were posted to their Legions? I think it was Torghun wanted to go to the Luna Wolves, and was pissed he ended up with the scars. Something like that might explain it.

Ah yeah, there it is. I saw what appears to be a blood drop on his chest and completely missed the wolf sigil.

Tell that to GW, every BA face with an open mouth these days has fangs. New BA Tacs, Assault Terminators, TDA Captain (Karlaen)...it's a sad state of affairs.

Easy tiger, I said it was a sad state of affairs. BA with fangs makes it easier for the uninitiated to think they're vampires.
