Hi all,

Been a while...

I've been stomping mech in my local games (we play one list vs. all opponents, no tailoring) then yesterday I had to play my Tyranid friend. We played twice, I got thumped hard each time & was out of one game by turn 3 pretty much. :headbutt:

I thought that my 3 Blood Talon Dreads could do enough damage but they didn't, I have quite a poor list for facing off against bugs so I need help.

My list was;

Reclusiarch (with DC)

Librarian (with 9 man RAS)
- Shield, Lance

Sanguinary Priest (with 5 man RAS)

Furioso Dreadnought
- Extra Armour
- Blood Talons
Dedicated Transport: Drop Pod

Furioso Dreadnought
- Extra Armour
- Blood Talons
Dedicated Transport: Drop Pod

Assault Squad
Sergeant
- Bolt pistol & Power Fist
8 Marines
-Meltagun x 1
Dedicated Transport: Rhino

Assault Squad
Sergeant
- Bolt pistol & Power Fist
5 Marines
Dedicated Transport: Razorback
- Twin Linked Assault Cannon

Tactical Squad
Sergeant
- Bolt pistol & Power Fist
9 Marines
-Meltagun x 1
- Missile Launcher
Dedicated Transport: Rhino

Death Company
7 DC
- Power Fist
- Power Weapon x 2
Dedicated Transport: Rhino
- Extra Armour

DC Dreadnought
- Blood Talons
- Drop Pod

2 Attack Bikes
- Multi Melta

2 Attack Bikes
- Multi Melta

2 Attack Bikes
- Multi Melta

TOTAL: 1997

His list (I think) was;

Hive Tyrant
- Boneswords & Lash whips

Prime
- Scything Talons (I think)

(plus a few Guard/Tyranid Warrior looking things with Lash Whips)

Tyrant Guard x 2

Tyrant Guard x 3

Tyrant Guard x 3

* all with those annoying S8 don't need line of sight guns. Grrr!

Tervigon

Tervigon

Hormagaunts x 16

Hormagaunts x 16

Genestealers x 12

Carnifex
Devourers

Carnifex
Devourers

Anyone got any ideas? Those Tervigons just pump out replacement troops for his 'wall' and those MCs are pretty nasty, the Tyrant is nasty in HtH. Most of all I simply can't kill his MCs fast enough and I lose my vehicles by turn 2-3. :(

Cheers,
Dallas

Hmm those pesky hive gaurd are the main reason for your mechs dead i think you pointed that out. i think if you got your death company HTH with a fex they could kill one. Also with those bikes keep them together and if he splits his 3 hive gaurd squads far enufe you could pick off one squad a turn bc of insteen killing. but the main problum of the tyranid player is he has two synaspe creatures kill the prime and tyrant his army will not be very effiective beacause he wont be able to controll it all the timethats my 2 cents

From what I can see your list is a nice punch you in the face list. I would drop the shield power since everyone is riding in rhinos anyway and take Sanguine Sword, S10 kills bugs dead. I would also take unleash rage or might of heroes over the blood lance. From what I can see maybe just your tactics need revising. Try using the rhinos and drop pods especially to make a choke point for his troops. If he sends in the gaunts engage them with no room for the bigs to come in while the bikes shoot them from the side or behind. If he leads with the bigs, even better. There are enough fists and Dread attacks to drop them if u hit them with 2 or 3 squads each.

I like this list, lots of fire power. Though I don't know the point differece between the assault cannons and the lascannons, I'd go with the lascannons. You have great fire power, however, for the logistics of things it looks like you have to be worried about the "giants" in his army. Your Baal Predators and your vindicator is more than enough to deal with the little tyranids. hope this helps

Same points but I prefer 4 x TL-AC shots to one single lascannon shot. My only real melee is Seth & the Honour Guard but I plan to shoot those big bugs up before it comes to that!
