Base of this list is the same that I’ve been using for a while, an Alpha Legion themed army of saboteurs/infiltrators with some cultists thrown in to the mix. Only now I’ve given them some Dark Eldar allies as well. I’ve been looking forward to paint and field the DE for a long time now. Their new codex isn’t all that I hoped it would be, but I am used to playing armies that aren’t considered to be all that powerful.

Ahriman joins the cultists. His first infiltrate is always given to himself. Cypher joins the troop chosen and infiltrates as well, as do his fallen. If I get a second infiltrate through Master of Deception, then I give it to troop chosen or the cultists and use either Cypher or Ahriman to infiltrate the bikers by joining them at the deployment phase (and leaving them when they get the chance). Wracks always deep strike on first turn. Helbutes and the Archon with her warrior squad arrive from the reserve later by deep strike.

Army is fragile, but everything infiltrates or deep strikes and I have access to guaranteed invisibility and plenty of shrouded for the CSM. Dark Eldar lower the nearby enemy LD making CSM telepathy powers such as psychic shriek more powerful against them. All I need to do is keep DE and CSM apart from each other.

Other than that I have 42-60 poisoned shots, 15-30 plasma shots (rapid fire range being all but guaranteed), 3xBlasters, 2xMeltaguns, 1xCombi-melta, 3xMulti-meltas, 3xHeavy flamers, 2xFlamers, 2xOssefactors & 8-13 Warp charges with 4xPsychic shrieks. Squads with ObSec are Cultists, Warriors & Troop Chosen. On paper the DE look like a nice addition to the army and as far as allies go they fit the fluff and the play style of my CSM. Any thoughts or critique? I know this is largely the same list I’ve posted before, but before I start buying the models to make DE a permanent inclusion to my CSM army, I thought I’d post this army list idea here first.

Having read through the Haemonculus coven supplement I am slowly turning away from the basic DE codex. I am not that familiar with DE, so it's a bit hard for me to see the strenght of some of their units. My army doesn't really need anything from gaming perspective. I just want to paint and own some of the beautiful DE models. Here is another try at mixing DE with the CSM. I still don't know if it is worth it. DE are detrimental to CSM leadership if they get within 12'' and even worse if they get within 6'' of each other.

Cool man. some thoughts:
I'd drop Be'Lakor and buff the bikers (up to, say, 7)
With 200 pts i'd take a nurgle daemon prince with black mace, just for shit and giggles. (being nurgle, mostly for shit...)

Then, i'd change the plasmaguns into meltaguns in at least one of cypher's chosens. this is because you have, honestly no real antitank. Both units would be better, imo.

Lastly how many points this stuff is???

(also, remove weapons effects and special formation explicit rules, that is law-breaking!)

I removed all of the text that described any of the formation/weapons rules. Originally I figured I'd write down a vague description of what some of the DE rules do, especially about the formations, since they are essential to my army and the Dark Eldar are still quite new and unknown to some. But I guess in some cases I ended up writing up a too detailed description, though I did try to avoid giving out the full rule. Anyways, I'll assume people in these boards know by now what the Haemonculus formations can do.

About the army list. I'll change some of the plasma chosen to melta chosen and I'll think about the Be'lakor. He is a huge points sink, but then again I like him because he fits the army's overall theme of infiltrators that are shrouded in darkness.

Also, about DE. I am leaning more and more towards the Haemonculus formations as allies. I think the pain engines and wracks are some of the best models GW has produced and their formation rules seem to be good.

I am pretty much all set on adding the haemonculus coven to my CSM army. In fact it's the other way around now, as I am trying to decide what CSM to add to my new DE army. The army still has a majority of CSM models, even though they have now become the allies, so I think the list still belongs to this forum. Besides I don't want to start a new thread.

So, here is a one last army list idea. It features DE with a Cult of Slaanesh. Some may consider it unfluffy others may consider it fluffy. Personally I think it's still more feasible than many ally combinations out there.

Cypher infiltrates with the large sonic blaster/blastmaster noise marine squad. Chaos Lord joins the biker squad, possibly outflanking. Sorcerer outflanks with Draznicht's plasma chosen. Dark Eldar and Helbrutes deep strike.

Hmmm. The sorc taking Balestar and MoS (for the Steed, I know) seems kind of contradictory: if he's taking Balestar, it's probably for Prescience, but the Chosen already have Draznicht for Preferred Enemy, and with the MoS, he's going to have to take a Slaaneshi power and get the Slaaneshi primaris (so no pure Divination on an unmarked sorc w/ free Primaris). Meanwhile, he could try for the "+S to Sonic Weapons" power, but when he's off the board and only coming in later (not necessarily anywhere in the area of the Noise Marines)...

A pretty minor quibble about a few items that don't quite sync up as well as I might like. Perhaps just go for a Spell Familiar rather than Balestar, but hey, even keep it if you like.

I'm not exactly familiar with the new DE stuff, but by and large have been trying to follow the leaks, and those seem fine. Not sure which the Panacea is, but I'm sure it's one of the cool new rewards. (the FNP/some protection from ID one?)

Panacea gives IWND that passes on 4+ instead of 5+ and some specific protection against poisoned attacks. Haemonculus, Cronos & Talos squad is a majority toughness 7 and it seems like a good idea to tank shots with the haemonculus. But since she is my warlord as well, I don't want to lose her, especially since she allows the Talos & Cronos to re-roll FnP rolls of 1 while she is alive. So, it's some protection against dying at a price of 5pts over a plasma gun.

About Balestar, it's not optimal I know. But then again prescience can be cast on some other squad besides Draznichts ravagers and the chosen squad itself can benefit from some of the other divination powers, such as the ignores cover one. Then again, telepathy is really good too, maybe even better if I get shrouded or invisibility and psychic shriek works well with the Dark Eldar's 12'' -1LD ability. So I may go the spell familiar route after all. MoS is for the steed indeed. I'd prefer not to waste a power for the slaaneshi discipline, but since I want to keep the outflank option, I guess I don't have a choice. I am also contemplating about giving the Slaaneshi Chaos Lord a bike instead of a steed for that all important protection against S8 attacks.

Beside the Slaanesh + Dark Kin pairing that hurts my brain, i like the list. :)
I can see your point on the extra haemy protection: that unit is gonna rape the ass of anyone who stands in its way.
The chaos sorcerer, imo, is just a liability. 170 pts can become a much needed heldrake with hades autocannon for some AA

I got good results with the Chaos Sorcerer in the past, but you're both right, he feels a little out of place in the list and with the modest warp charges available he's probably not going to be making much of a difference. I ended up getting rid of him. Without outflank Draznicht's ravagers had to go too, but I have Cypher and his guys. So, here are a couple of list ideas. One for more infiltrating/outflanking plasma and another for anti-air. I like both of these lists and I finally feel that I've found my next army, a Cult of Slaanesh with a Haemonculus coven. That's about as evil as you can get, even in the grimdarkness of the grimdark future:p
