So The dwarf lord and BSB go in the unit of longbeards, while the runesmith just hangs out with a unit of thunderers, and the runelord joins the warriors with shields. The master rune of valaya on the bsb is just pure awesome when facing people who love the lore of life (everybody) as is just auto dispels RiP. combined with the banner I also have a static +5 to dispel along with stealing an opponents power die and adding it to my DD, and two scrolls. So my magic defence is down. For ranged support I have my str 5 grudge thrower, and a cannon for anything to scary looking. My slayers are basically there because I love the unit, and their big enough to take casulties and still hurt people, so they draw fire. Any thoughts? Comments? Also where should I spend my last 80pts.?

imo bolt throwers are better than cannonsfor dwarfs as both do d3 wounds but 1 may overshoot and the boltthrower is half the points of a basic cannon

hmm interesting, well around here magic is key, and the last thing I want is pit of shades/Purple sun or even dwellers getting mashed all over my army.

How do you mean not enough staying power? Im interested in your thoughts

The thing is; those spells will go off with IF, regardless of 800 or so points of magic defence, so you're screwed either way.

I prefer to go with 'some' magic defence; runesmith with rune of balance, dispel scroll, etc.

I use the points I saved to get more Dwarfs and Warmachines! The more units of Dwarfs you can get, the better. I am also a big fan of units of 30, 5x6- they are incredibly resiliant.

Its the common number for games around here, its just easier to break down, min 600 core, max 600 lords and heroes, I guess because it is just a solid rounder number to work with.

And I suppose what you say is true, but I dont have 800pts. in my magical defence :p Maybe 350-400. Also I considered dropping the slayers in favour of another unit of longbeards with shields. Or I could use the extra point to just buff both units to 25-30. Thoughts?

Also I dont want to go any heavier on war machines, there is another dwarf player in my area, and his mega gunline has become the bane of fun. So im trying to go for a support role, not a ROFL your whole army just exploded kind of deal.

Dropping the slayers to add another unit of longbeards with shields is probably a good idea, like you said. You don't just wanna like play knowing you will win, you wanna actually have a fairly well played game back and fourth :)

No dispel rune of destruction nightmare things?

Half my spells on my LVL4 Tzeentch general got nailed by those and not only was i very unhappy... but i lost the game.

Longbeard rangers are filthy as are iron breakers. Throwing axes at st5 and an unbreakable unit are invaluable at this point level i think!

You can only take one of those runes that destroy spells, you might want to make sure your not getting cheated dude, and I know, but I dont actually own any Ironbreakers, and rangers arent really my cup of tea

haha, thats assuming it was the spelleater rune, its a dispel scroll, but on a 4+ it destroys your spell, right?
