Ok so having procrastinated a bit about the hobby and in particular WoC, I'm planning on renevating my army a little for next year's tournaments running a very Nordic themed army, worshipping none of the gods but there shadow deity (anyone whose read Tom Lloyds 'Twighlight reign' books will have an idea about the hidden god of shadows!).

Lord:
Sorcerer Lord
Infernal Puppet
Blood of Tzeentch
Stream of corruption (when Unit engaged in combat 2d6 s3 hits -1 armour save against enemy to help break them!)
320pts

Hero:
Exalted Champion
BSB
Doom Totem & Flail
214pts

Chaos sorcerer
Level 2
Spell familiar and dispel scroll
Mounted in chariot
260pts

CORE:
20 marauders full commend, with flails. +light armour, mark of nurgle.
Lead by Lord they hold the left flank. 170pts

20 marauders full commend, with flails. +light armour, mark of nurgle.
Lead by BSB they hold the central line, to maximise the Doom Totems affect. 170 pts

6 Ogres full command, additional hand weapons, and chaos armour, with mark of nurgle. These go on the right flank with other hammer units and chariot. 350pts

6 maruader cavalry, light armour, flails, javelins, mark of khorne. 162pts

5 Chaos Knights, full command, mark of Tzeentch (pesky cannon balls!) and the war banner. 295pts

10 chaos hounds 60pts

may split them into 2 units of 5? They're purely a soak to cover the knights + chariot.

2001pts

Critiscisms welcome! =)

This army will not win many games and is not that compative but,

Fluff wise its very good and fun wise it will seem ok as well, its all about if you go to a torny to win or for fun

if you want to be a "l win" chaos army it will need many changes pettey much everything from the CORE: down whould be removed

Well its a small part of a much larger chaos army I own (over 6k) but the whole thing is slowly being re-painted / converted to fit the story / background I am using about a 5th chaos deity the shadow lord (cheesy i know) based on the hidden deity of shadow in the above mentioned books.

So I'm going much more for tyheme and fun than anything else, Having looked at the list again though I'd still like it to do well (not get totally annihilated.

So thinking of possibly removing the chariot and taking sorc on foot.

Drop Marauder cav, and hounds, and replace with a regiment of Forsaken.

THen I dont know about dropping the knights in favour of a solidblock of Chosen... or possibly taking my giant and adding an extra 5 to each marauder unit!?

First things first, it is indeed a fluffy army but when going to a tournament, well, you'll probably get quite the beating.

First, give the lvl 4 some protection, he's a way to easy target for a lot of things. Sniping spells such as of Death, cannonballs, miscasts will now definately do a wound. Stream of corruption is a good choice, it's always a fun surprise.

The bsb, the doom totem is a fun banner indeed and can be quite powerful with the right combos. But it's best used with a hellcannon, suddenly taking panic tests with -2 isn't so fun. Lore of death can give another -3. You can combo it so that they definately run, or fail fear/terror tests. But nowadays it's harder to panic since bsb's allow re-rolls of all. And since your list has only knights and ogres that cause fear so the doom totem is actually quite a point waste now.

I wouldn't put the lvl 2 in a chariot but the bsb might be a good option for it. (so it's actually just a swap)

The marauders are good solid blocks, but (and this is a personal choice) is a 6+ armour save really necessarry? you can put 4 extra marauders for that, 6+ won't even save that much. It's useful together with shields, but no so with flails. Perhaps also mark of khorne for that extra punch.

Of the ogres, well, I'm not really a fan of them, but if it's what you want then I wouldn't see why not.

Your marauder horsemen, I think you made a small error, they're 132 points, not 162 ;) i think you accidently counted mark of khorne twice.

Knights, (oh how i love them), tzeentch is good, but won't help that much against cannonballs :p you're more with the blasted standard then.

And yeah, i'd put the hounds into two units, two screens are better than one :p

Now I just gave you my oppinion, but even with those adaptions this list is far off from competetive. I can understand you want to go fluffy, but mostly it's hard to combine fluffy and competetive, so you'll have to make a choice. Ofcourse it is possible, but this list won't make the competetive section I'm afraid. If you want to keep this list, be my guest, it's your list, you do with it what you want. But if you want to change it, then just post a new one on here, and we'll help you in either way we can.

l will say this there is a reason why in competitive play Forsaken are really forsaken and war hounds are nick name "lol hounds" is because they really are useless for there points. l also run a bit of a fluff army its a Lovecraft/Cthulhu but l used the fluff list for fun and if l want to play for real l throw fluff out it seems you can never have both :( in the end though overall enjoyment is the best thing besides l guess if you were playing a l want to win army you pick HE

Thanks for the advice, I think its mainly a fluff army if I used some of my more elit units that are scheduled to be remodelled into the fluffier army eventually instead I would field something more elit such as.....

Daemon Prince Lv2
Word of agony
Diabolic splendour
Fury of the blood god
475pts

BSB
Stream of corruption

15 CW
Full command
h/wpn + shields
270pts

15 CW
Full command
h/wpn + shields
270pts

24 marauders flails mark of nurgle
170pts

6 chaos knights Full command
Bnr of wrath
335pts

Chariot mark of nurgle 150pts

Hellcannon 205pts

2010pts ....I guess I can drop a maruader to get it down! :p

that'd be some of my more elit elements.

The daemon prince is a 100% converted model I haven't finished building yet, using parts from my slann mage priest (v old one from when lizardmen first came into warhammer), vermin lord, flesh hounds, griffons, and a few other very random bits!

In bigger games it will represent the actual deity they all worship, the shadow lord. As such I usually field him (in his current half built state) using lores of shadows or death or heavens. My chariot mounted sorc generally wields fire lore.

the hellcannon is also not yet finished :s as I've not used one in past feeling its too... ranged! lol have a chaos giant and a selection of spawns as my usual rare choices!

or Forsaken just because I love the conversions i'm working on (shadow zombies with chaos bits thrown in.. very eerie looking (or would be if my painting was as good as my converting skills :s
