Alright, here we go. First off, keep in mind that my knowledge of Fantasy is limited... I've read through the 6e book and noticed similarities to 40k, and I know the rules are more complex, with things such as morale, etc.

Anyway, here's what was going through my head when I started this. As always, visual factors had something to do with it.

1) I love dragons. LOVE them. My army has to have at least one, with the new model that's out. I like them so much that I wanted to see how many I could get into a force.

2) I like the idea of calvary. Fast, hard hitting force. Sadly, that's impossible for high elves thanks to Core requirements. I did what I could.

3) Cost is always a factor. Therefore, I tend to play high strength models, and lower model count. No 'horde' armies for me, because that means more to buy.

Without further ado:

Dragon Mage of Caledor - 425 pts
-Level 2
-Starwood Staff (+1 casting rolls)

Dragon Mage of Caledor - 425 pts
-Level 2
-Staff of Sorcery (+1 dispel rolls)

Archers - 180 pts
-Light Armor

Archers - 180 pts
-Light Armor

Silver Helms - 250 pts
-Full Command
-10 Models (including champion)

Silver Helms - 250 pts
-Full Command
-10 Models (including champion)

Dragon Princes of Caledor - 290 pts
-Full Command
-8 Models (including champion)

-Total: 2000 pts

3 Squads of calvary. I decided that since I wanted this force to be mostly mobile, the archers were a better core choice; they gave me covering fire while my mounted units were able to charge. Seemed more sound then using static spearmen that wouldn't be helpful once they were outpaced.

2 fire mages give me decent destruction, not to mention the DRAGONS they're flying around on.

The only thing I don't know much about is whether the inflated points I put into the unit upgrades (Commands) and the magic items are worth it. The staves SEEM useful... one is better for my dispelling, while the other will be a little more powerful when it comes to unleashing burning doom and such.

I need opinions, thoughts, etc.

Help!

technically, I haven't either, I run off an old High Elf book and my Army Builder... but much like having to take troops, in 2k you HAVE to take what WHFB calls Core troops... and there are no mounted core for the HEs. Archers, Spearmen, or Sea Elves.

there were in the last edition. I have a full cavalry list w prince imrick, several mages, dragon princes, silver helms, reavers, eagles and chariots. This list varies from 1500 to 3000 depending on the choices (obviously no imrick in 1500

Silver helms used to be core, and i dont think there was any limit on how many units of them you could take as core choices, so if your using the old army book, then check that out. Don't know about the new book.

its a pretty good list xabre, although as you can take a lord choice at 2000 i would consider putting a level4 mage on a dragon for extra magical power. Also its not "normally" worth making cavalry units more than 6 wide, and the cost of making them have ranks means its generally better having more units as you double your impacts and chances of out manauvreing, getting flank charges and protecting the rest of your army. if you have a std, then at least consider warbanner in one of your mounted units as its like having an extra rank but not lost from a flank/rear charge.
