I've not played much heresy personally (more a watcher than a gamer at the moment until i find my feet with the rules), but in my limited experience, maxxing out those tactical squads where possible is great for iron warriors. 20-man squad of guys to sit in cover and lay down fire is fairly overwhelming for any advancing troops. added with the ability to whether lots of casualties, you can often make the enemy run away before they reach your lines. Using the FotL with one squad while moving another into position (pepperpotting as its known in the military). (a barebones 20 man squad is around 250 points - so for 500 points you get shit loads of bolter rounds each turn!)
The dreadclaw is useful, but not sure what its purpose is, i'd be tempted to get rid and tool up somewhere else.
I like the heavy fire support - medusas and basilisk, with some quad mortars is a phenomenal amount of fire. Put your infantry in front and wait for them to come to you!
