Hey guys - I'm starting to plan out a 2,000 point list to setup for a tourny i'm going to be in Spring, so here we go

I decided for the hell of it to throw in the unnecessary info [[ie. Fearless]] Just so if you arnt Chaos you could maybe get a better feel of their role :victory:

I went for more of a mobile/number army
every CSM squad has a standard bearer in case I see a better way to position my obliterators, and I'm kinda relying on good rolls for both of my HQ's Deepstrikes -- but thats an edge i hope to have over my opponent, being Irish and all

I'm a big fan of the Havocs, but for my dream team I could'nt fit them in without leaving them vulnerable - Every squad is able to fullfil their points-worth without relying too heavily on each other directly

well i'm not sure if you were going for this, but your composition is almost perfect. lots of troops, lots of variety, not an excess of heavy weaponry.

if you wanted a bit more bang for your buck, i would advise making your chaos marine squads 10-man, remove the lascannons, and mount them in cheap rhinos. you would be able to play them as 'hit squads' and use either 2 flamers or 2 meltas in each squad.

also, it might be worth noting that the mark of slaanesh is nowhere near as efficient as the the other marks, especially when it comes to making your terminators more effective.

I've given it a bit of thought, the lascannons were so if they had to hold some quarter my opponent'll have to think twice before sending in his big guys, and the marks to help them hold their own in case of a bad roll, i'm personally not a big fan of cheap Rhinos

And i specifically chose the mark of slaneesh because i wanted them to rape in CC - most units have an initiative of 4, so with that bonus i'll be able to ruin them at a cheap cost to be the combo with the lightning claws

Thanks for the input, i'll definately be considering it in my next draft

thanks for the positive responses guys, i'ma be running an escalation league mid January till March so I'll probibly use a tweeked version of this list as a tester to find any obvious weaknesses before I go into the Tourny I think in April, I havent talked with the manager of the store yet on when a good time after the league finishes to have the tournament

But i'd love some more feedback! Course its why i posted my list up here

About the original list:

Flamers and lascannons? Seems contradictory to me. And why 12 man squads ooc?

In response to your last post, go with the Rhinos. Your biggest lacks in the list are mobility and anti armour with mobility being the key. You may have a hard time taking objectives with this list without the transports and taking them will balance that out. I would also suggest, if you can find the points somewhere, taking meltaguns on the bikers possibly. I know they are mainly for cc being Khorne but bikers make excellent tank hunters as well.

Havoc are FAR, FAR better of a HS choice than the Defiler. I have been playing Chaos since before there was a Defiler and I have yet to see it be worth its points, especially now that Indirect Fire is gone. Big gun in a tin can and it WILL die quickly, usually long before it earns its points back. Drop it for the dead weight it is and go with the havocs.

Something to think about :)
