I have been trying to make a low point thousand sons list and its not easy. Finally I decided fluff be damned. Thousand sons in squads bigger then nine hanging out with slaanesh sorcerers. I know its blasphemous.

HQ

125- chaos sorcerer, `MoS, lash of submission
125- chaos sorcerer, `MoS, lash of submission

TROOPS

301- x12 thousand sons, bolt of change
301- x12 thousand sons, bolt of change

HEAVY

150- x2 obliterators

This is the game plan. Each sorcerer gets his own rubric body guard and between the two of them i can push cc squads back and pull shooters out of cover. All the while slowly advancing forward laying down some serious ap3 dakka. The oblits and bolts of change should be able to take out transports and whatever small armor i'll see at 1k pts. after that its just a matter of getting squads into rapid fire range with no cover. I'm only playing friends and when we play this small its on a 4x4 table. That will help my slow army. I think i'll just deploy as far out in my zone as possible and just march to the center where i can reach almost the whole table. questions, comments, suggestions, all would be much apprecited

I would drop one Sorc (or both and add a Lash Prince); you really won't need two Lashes at 1000 points. Use those points to buy a third Oblit, as they are the best part of this list, especially at 1000 points. Drop your Tson squad sizes down to 8 or 9. With the extra points from the squad reductions and Sorc, get a squad of Melta Plague Marines (Honestly I would just take three squads of melta PMs). If you can, buy your three troop choices some rhinos. And split your three Oblits into two or even three squads.

Tsons kind of suck. Yes that invuln can keep you alive longer while footslogging..but then again, why are you footslogging? Melta PMs, Noise Marines and Berzerkers will all perform much better.

At 1000 points I would take a Warptime Nurgle Daemon Prince, three cult troops (not Tsons) all in rhinos and two or three Oblits. Sorry if this seems like a re-write..but I feel it's necessary.

Haha! I like it. Tsons are underrated and underused. Some edits that might help:

1. Drop a Lash and get more Oblits. 2 Lashes at 1k is a bit excessive, and the extra lolihaveeveryweapon platform will benefit you more.

2. [Alternative to #1]. Drop BOTH Sorcerors and get a Lash/Wings DP and another Oblit.

3. Consider dropping your Bolts of Change. You're at a real risk of being swarmed and eaten in CC, so Wind of Chaos would be good at deterring any would-be melee attackers. Keep in mind that WoC glances vehicles on a 4+, so you're not giving up all you anti-mech.

4. Drop Tsons down to 10 and grab two Rhinos. Having a thin metal box in between them and the enemy is more helpful than you might think.

Interesting, if weird, combination; the best I could come up with for this one was:

HQ
• Daemon Prince
- Mark of Slaanesh; Lash of Submission
135 points

TROOPS
• 9 Thousand Sons
- Aspiring Sorceror with Bolt of Change and Personal Icon; Rhino
309 points
• 9 Thousand Sons - Aspiring Sorceror with Doombolt; Rhino
289 points
• 9 Lesser Daemons of Tzeentch
117 points

HEAVY SUPPORT
• 2 Obliterators

150 points

TOTAL:
1,000 points

ive seen this in teh Tactics thread, he specificly didnt want rhino's but he did want more bodies

the only problem i can see with this list is that it lacks any CC back up (as mentioned in the tactics thread) Personaly i like the list and think its works well as is, if anything i would drop the Ob's to make a Cheap Termiside squad with some CC weapons to walk up behind your TS's

Thanks for the suggestions guys. Even zadens idea to just scrap the whole army. Svart if i wanted to make this competitive and or fluffy your list or something very close would be it. As is I only got the Tsons because i got 32 of them with a bunch of sorcerers really cheap. I don't really feel like buying and building rhinos for them. i changed things a bit what do you think?

HQ

135- Deamon prince- MoS, lash

Troops

320- x10 Thousand sons- aspiring sorcerer, wind of chaos
320- x10 Thousand sons- aspiring sorcerer, wind of chaos

Heavy

225- 3x oblits
____
1000 - total

I got 8 terminators with the sons and plan on using them when i move up to 1500. Them and some lesser daemons. What else do you think i should do at 1500?

306- x12 Thousand sons- wind of chaos
Remember that you have to have an Aspiring Sorceror in each Thousand Sons squad (it's the Sorceror's will that directs the disembodied standard troops), and they're almost 3 times the cost of one standard troop model; a squad of 12 including a Sorceror with Wind Of Chaos actually comes to 343 points.

Sticking as closely as I can to what you've said you want, here's a Rhino-free 1,500-point suggestion:

HQ
• Daemon Prince
- Mark of Slaanesh; Wings; Lash of Submission
155 points

ELITES
• 5 Terminators
- Icon of Chaos Glory; heavy flamer and powerfist; 4 combi-meltas
195 points

TROOPS
• 9 Thousand Sons
- Aspiring Sorceror with Bolt of Change
269 points
• 9 Thousand Sons - Aspiring Sorceror with Bolt of Change
269 points
• 9 Thousand Sons - Aspiring Sorceror with Bolt of Change
269 points
• 9 Lesser Daemons of Tzeentch
117 points

HEAVY SUPPORT
• 3 Obliterators

225 points

TOTAL:
1,499 points

Now, I'm a crappy player and tactician, but to me that's too many expensive footsloggers for 1,500 points even with a Lash to drag things around a bit, and also not enough heavy support. And with Thousand Sons squads being as expensive as they are, I wouldn't go to 3 squads of them in a 1,500-pointer unless I was doing a very fluff-centric Tzeentch-only list.

Feel free to ignore this second version, but I would humbly suggest something like this as being more useful while still staying fairly close to your original concept:

HQ
• Daemon Prince
- Mark of Slaanesh; Wings; Lash of Submission
155 points

ELITES
• 5 Terminators
- Icon of Chaos Glory; heavy flamer and powerfist; 3 combi-meltas
190 points

TROOPS
• 10 Chaos Marines
- Icon of Chaos Glory; 2 flamers; Rhino
205 points
• 9 Thousand Sons - Aspiring Sorceror with Bolt of Change
269 points
• 9 Thousand Sons - Aspiring Sorceror with Bolt of Change
269 points
• 9 Lesser Daemons of Tzeentch
117 points

HEAVY SUPPORT
• 2 Obliterators

150 points
• Vindicator – Daemonic Possession
145 points

TOTAL:
1,500 points

As always, HTH.

You are right Svart. I have been paying 23 points for my sorcerers. I was off by 37 points each squad. I edited the list. Thanks for the two 1500 lists. Both are excellent. I like the idea of a vindi or two.
