Hi

Entering a tournament and havent played 40k csm in a while.

Thinking of the following list.

Are there any obvious flaws.
Its an uncomped tournament.

hq

Belakor 350p

Chaos lord on jugger and mark of khorne. 185p
Sigil
Axe of blind fury.
Horns of slaughter

Troops

cultists 50p
cultists 50p
cultist 50p
cultist 50p

fast
5 chaos spawn nurgle 180p
heldrake flamer
heldrake flamer

Heavy support
oblit nurgle 76p
oblit nurgle 76p
oblit nurgle 76p

Allies

Knight errant 370p

My thoughts are spawn + lord and the Knight rushes forward with invis from belakor.
Oblits and heldrake provide support while cultists capture the objektives.
It will be maelstrom missions all the way.

any suggestions for improvement?
It feels a bit cheesy but mostly in our uncomped lists chaos struggles a bit so i doesnt worry me to much.

The big thing that I can see is the Knight. Imperial Knights follow the "Armies of the Imperium" ally rules, which means they could not ally in with your chaos army. Unless, of course, there is a house rule that states otherwise.

As far as I know, he can still ally it in - It is just a "Come the apocalypse" state, where it cannot be deployed within 12'' of his army and any model of his own within 12'' of him have to take a test each round, to see if they aren't too busy looking at each other.

The army looks ok, though you can't have your Chaos Lord as the Axe of Blind Fury is for CSM only, while Horns of Slaughter are for Crimson Slaughter only. A CSM char can not have CSM stuff and vice versa.
Another prob with a lot of people using battlescribe, as it doesn't know this :p.
Though as a Khorne Lord you already get Furious Charge (or might be Rage, I can never remember), and i think as Cavalry due to the Jugger you get HoW i think. So the only bonus you get from it i think is the one you didn't get from your mark.

If you wanted to cheese it a bit with some allies, you could of course drop your nurgle spawns.
Add in a Renegades and Heretics Command Squad devoted to Tzeentch what costs a tiny amount of pts (about 55-65 i think), buy a unit of 10 mutants as your mandatory troops (a meer 30pts) and take cheap spawns that cost less than 2 normal CSM spawns to get 3 of them, and you can take 3 squads like that if you free up the pts.

okay guys thanx for the advice. Seems that i have somethings to Think about.
Seems like i can save some Points removing mon from spawns and helm from chaos lord.
Still crap thou because now a lucky vindicator shot can take out the whole unit. I will ofcourse throw invis on the from belakor but sometimes i need it on the Knight.

Not true - You choose either the vanilla CSM, Black Legion or the Crimson Slaughter version when you create your army. Either have only their own artifacts :)
One of the CSM ones out there seems to have all the items from all 3 codex on it on my friends version, but keeps the weapons from the CSM book and others under Weapons rather than artifacts.

Just a Quick report. Tournament didnt go well.
Faced necrons in the first match dual wraithspam. They were hard to take down and locked my troops in cc most of the match. 3+ 4+ fnp dies hard.
15-5 necrons

2nd game vs thundercav list
Dodged hes cav units (3 cav thunderwolf) shot em with drake and Knight until most had 1 wound. Then i charged and cleared 1 unit at the time. Cultists provided charge screen with obj cappin. 17-3 chaos.

3:rd game
5 flyrants and some ripper/ droppods and a carnifex.
Hes flyrants ate most of my infantery round 2. Killed most the of army round 3 and in the end it was Knight and heldrake vs the tyranid army. Not much to do vs that army and ended 17-3 tyranids.
Still killed 3 flyrants and a few swarms and both pods.

Ended up to be my worst tournament so far. Chaos marines are just to gimped at the moment. Until a new release ill stick to my 30k army or my grey Knights with imperial Knight allies.

Wraithspam and Flyrantspam.

...well, nobody can say the meta isn't diverse, these days. It's just damned hard to build a CSM list that can handle either, let alone both, of those...

Oh, man, Grey Knights and CSM? Yeah, the tournament scene isn't even taking your codexes to dinner first, even with the boost to CSM from IA13. I guess you could be Sisters or Dark Eldar, and that might be worse, maybe?

Knight can't have Invisibility cast on it due to being a Come the Apocalypse ally, which nobody seems to have pointed out yet.

I wonder how the Fire Raptor would do against Tyrant Spam. Against 2 or 3 I'd say great, but 5? FFS.
Fire Raptor and 2 helblades!

I think the Helblade is the better flyer to spam over the Heldrake. The Drake is now slighty over-costed, but while the helblade will die real fast it can pick a target and have a good chance of doing quite a bit of damage to it in the turn it arrives.

Hell Blades are definitely better to spam over Heldrakes, at least for anything other than anti-infantry. Shoot, even then in some cases Rending will do more damage (terminators, etc.). Definitely easier to shoot down but at least it still has the 5++ and jink.

IMO making the ol' turkey 150 points base with a twin-linked Hades autocannon with a 20 point upgrade to a Baleflamer would be fair. Baleflamer is still pretty good IMO.

It has its place in any good list, it helps deal with Space Marine Bikers, Ork Transport rushes (Or any Low AV 'Open Topped Transport' and Deep striking marines.

I also think that the way to deal with Wraithspam is the Blackmace? As it can remove models which helps find weeknesses with the necrons? But I may be very wrong as I havent spent much time looking at the wraith rules.

A Nurgle biker lord with a Black Mace could have a decent enough shot at making that work. The Black Mace makes them take a toughness test per wound sustained, and they have 2 each. It's still sort of a long shot because they have to fail their 3++ and THEN roll a 6 to fail their toughness test. Then their buddies take a toughness test and also have to roll a 6 to take a wound.

I must admit I'm pretty envious that Necrons have a close combat unit that puts even our lords and daemon princes to shame (in most situations, I guess, not all).

Deathwing Knights, Paladins, Hammernators, Bully Boyz, Seer Council and other dedicated melee units have always been better than Lords and Princes; hell, Thunderwolves are pretty equitable to new Wraiths and they've been around for a while. Lords are 'okay combat characters' but they're not taking on whole units most of the time and never as good as say a Thunderwolf Lord, Biker Chapter Master, Autarch on Jetbike with MotLG, and Princes have been underwhelming ever since they went from being 130pts to being silly points.

But fear not! Chaos gets MUTILATORS!

I'm envious of them all, is that what you wanted to----- BYAAAAAAAAAAARAHGALAARGURRRGGGGASAAAAAAAWERWSDDFKF!

**It was at that precise moment that Venomlust's envy turned him into a S-- I mean, the thing you roll on the Chaos Boon table that isn't Dark Apotheosis but "Something"hood.**
