I don't usually deal in 1850. But what the hell. This is actually ITC format... so 3 formation/detachments total, no CtA allies, and 1850 points. Kind of cool, I think.

Dark Angels - Ravenwing Strike Force (Primary)

Sammael on Corvex

RW Command Squad - 5 Knights, Apothecary, Champion, 2 Grenade Launchers

RW Black Knights - 3 + 1 Knights, 1 Grenade Launcher, Melta Bombs
RW Black Knights - 3 + 1 Knights, 1 Grenade Launcher, Melta Bombs

Raven Guard - Raptor Wing

Speeder Squadron - x2 Speeders, each with x2 MM

Stormtalon Gunship - Skyhammer Missiles
Stormtalon Gunship - Skyhammer Missiles

Raven Guard - Bladewing Assault Brotherhood

Chaplain - Raven's Fury, Swiftstrike & Murder

Veteran Vanguard Squad - 4+1, PF/LC x4, Relic Blade/Stormshield, Jump Packs

Assault Squad - 4+1, 2 Flamers, 1 Eviscerator, Jump Packs
Assault Squad - 4+1, 2 Flamers, 1 Eviscerator, Jump Packs

This is a glorious and fast army. The only thing I have any issue with here is this unit:

Veteran Vanguard Squad - 4+1, PF/LC x4, Relic Blade/Stormshield, Jump Packs
Holy crap that's a lot of points (40 each on weapons?!) for dudes with one wound and a 3+ save. I don't think I'd play a unit this extravagant even if I somehow actually had the models made up

I assume they're going to be Deep Striking in twice because of their Formation rules, why not something shootier? You could do Gunslinger grav/plasma pistols, oh wow. I was just perusing the SM book and realized how cheap the weapons are for your Vanguard Veterans. I thought you were spending double that on each model. Either way, given that you might do that mid-game Deep Strike it could be worth it to have more of a shooting impact with a side of close combat worthiness. Maybe a couple more storm shields for survival?

Yeah, the Vanguard Vet squad is actually less than the RW Command squad, though more than the Black Knights. Gunslinger'ing them would actually cost more with Plasma/Grav, though I could go Bolt Pistol/Grav or BP/Plasma, or a combination of them. The squad currently has one Storm Shield on the Sergeant to tank, and the 4++ from the Chaplain's Rosarius.

So I'm still thinking on this one. @ntaw what would you suggest in terms of firepower for Gunslingers? Running Plasma/Grav would be far too expensive. Would you let each one have a Bolt Pistol, and then mix up Grav and Plasma? Maybe 2 and 2? I'd end up making 5 points back on each model, which I could then spam Meltabombs in the unit if I really need something brutal in assault besides the Relic Blade and the Chaplain.

Wow! This notification slipped past me, sorry. It is costly to do double special pistol upgrades, but since the chainsword does you nothing aside from look awesome the grav/plasma with bolt pistol idea would work nicely. It's all about what kind of points you want to spend and how much shooting you want them to do. I don't think that melta bombs will make you 'brutal' in assault unless it's against a Vehicle that doesn't attack back. MCs and Walkers will smash your gits before you get to plant them at I1.

I considered changing it up, and actually going with a Chappy (or even two). However, I still love Sammy. He hasn't had any changes, and he's still an awesome character, and a sick model. He's the reason I had any interest in Dark Angels in the first place, and I still have my heavy as fuck metal jetbike painted up.

There is a nice fluff symmetry to run a pair of basic Chappy bikers, along with the flying Chappy....

2 bare bones bike Chaplains are 20 points more than Sammy.
That's pretty close, but I'm not sure what's worth dropping to have them beef up some of your units. Might be interesting to play both options to see which is truly better, now that there's at least the option.

Alternately, Librarians on Bikes?

I think if I did that, I'd try and add the Librarians to plasma-gunner bikes, to reroll gets hot options. (not BKs with talons since already linked). They're cheaper, so they could fit in, but I thought the chaplain's combat buffs would be nice to add to the Knights.
