So there suddenly seems to be a new influx of players in the area I live and I am brainstorming ideas for what to do in terms of a catch all list that can be at least give them a challenge. Many of these guys I haven't met yet but now that my schedule is opening up some more I figure I will see them on the board.

We now have the following in the local area.

Nids: For the most part I can hold my own against these guys and I think any list I build to deal with the other lists would be able to handle the nids still.

Necrons: Same as the nids

SW: The current local champ from the sounds of it, he runs TWC and a Imperial knight with assorted additions from the SW for support. The IK is the shooty version what ever that is.

GK: Dreadknights with torrent flamers, a Draigo Paladin bomb and assorted support.

CSM: A Fire Raptor, Sicarian tank, the FW drop pod, and assorted additions from the CSM codex for support

Eldar: Wraiths of all flavors and sizes, harlies, and other craftworld units.

SM: Whitescars bike list with heavy weapon support, las cannon heavy.

I currently have a couple Battlewagons, a couple dakkajets, the stormclaw set, a full set of lootas, a looted wagon, another 'looted wagon' that i have been playing as a big trakk, and assorted other odds and ends.

Currently debating on scratchbuilding some mek guns, meganobs and other assorted things but I am not quite sure what route to go to deal with the above things.

I had been running a Mad Doc shoota boy list but that pricey brick folded the last time I went up against a PA list.

So thoughts and ideas on how you guys would build an all comer list that can at least challenge the above mix of killy things? Generally the points are 1850 but occasionally we do either a 1500 or a 2k list also.

It certainly is the pivitol question that all player must face, ork players particularly.

How best do we stomp our enemies into the ground and smash them assunder.

My main thought would be to recommend you towards the power of the mighty battlewagon, simply the power of the mighty ork APC. I will recomend you (and blow my own horn of course) to check out my battlewagon lists, particularly the newer 5 battlewagon lists, there is my best attempt at a strong list to fight against as many lists as i possibly can.

Apart from that meganobs are certainly a good option for a broad option, you could probably use the meganobs paired with grotsnik for the rampage + high strength for ultimate death, particularly good against most deathstars and just about anything else really.

Apart from that experimentation certainly is required, to match the best units to fight you foes. Apart from that glancing through the tactica articles certainly always helps.

I have actually read your lists and thoughts on the matter, its more a challenge of getting 2-3 more BW than anything else. After I get some practice in converting/scratch building some MANZ, mek guns, and other things of that nature I plan to take a shot at some BWs. I think a couple of dump truck 1/32 scale models would work well.

I did this list against the Necrons last night, it seemed to be a little to scattered focus wise.

Some of this stuff was proxies, the local group is very cool with trying out new things before committing to models. The Traktor was mainly just a extra points, lets scare flyers type thing.

The guntrukks seemed too spotty, I think I should have went with either a larger squadron or more mek guns.

The MANZ with Mad Doc worked beatifully, it was the first time I ever played with MANZ and I think most of my nob models will be getting converted to MANZ.

The Burna meks all three died turn 1 to Gets Hot, it was a horrible night dice wise for me but I think in general the Burna boys overall are just too pricy for what they can do. I had tried them out because I have all those burnas from the loota kits.

I felt overall the list was too scattered in terms of saturation, there wasn't enough of the various gets hot weaponary to make them a threat due to the Ork BS. I had decent threat with the assualty units but even there it seemed a bit thin overall.

The majority of my games had been against nids and I played one game against that GK list and watched the 'scary foot slogging list' I used against the Nids fold under massed AP4 and heavy flamer fire. Hence why I am trying more things out overall. The mental switch from running SW to these has been a challenge for me due to how limited my playtime has been in the last year or so.

Certainly seems like a decent list. Personally seems like much to many toys and not enough boys. Against any decent army with some firepower to sling will disable the strong parts of this list. At least thats what I've always found with these style of list, but with good play they can perform well in some circumstances.

Aye, hence my coming here for more ideas. My concern is having enough high AP ommph to deal with the various powerhouse models I can potentially see.

I came up with this, thoughts? Suggestions?

Do you have any tankbustas? I never leave home without them. Either mobbed up in a large blob of 10 in a battle wagon/ gunwagon, or a couple of smaller 5 man units in trucks with bomb squigs, they are worth every penny/ point spent on them.
They will go through armour and MCs like they're not even there.

I do not but at the same time that isn't a hard conversion to do. Will see if i an get some into a list to try out. Pretty much going to proxy a bunch of stuff in upcoming games to get a feel for what they can do then go from there.

I was going to say tankbustas are kind of the master key to solving most problems for orks. The blitz brigade would be good but I was also thinking a trukk rush mixed with bikers might be good with Forgeworld Da Rippa that turns your bikes into troops. This way with tankbustas, MANZ and bikes all racing around your opponent will have trouble figuring out what to shoot first.
Something to consider would be Grot Tanks with grotzookas instead of lobbas. Grot tanks are surprisingly fast and BS3 they can shoot good.

Another option would be to allie in a Imperial Knight.

What is the lastest rule book for the FW models, the one I have seen seems to be a bad mashup of 5th/6th rulesets.

Is there a IK that we can ally with that's not Come the Appoc?

So I ran the above list tonight against SM, it worked well for the most part.
Went against White Scars with some extra formations
Suppression Force formation - 3 whirlwinds with a speeder 'marking units'
Raptor Wing formation - two sm flyers with a speeder 'marking units'
Thunderfire Cannon
2- 4 LasCannon Devs
3 units of bikes with gravguns and mm atk bikes
1- 2+ 3++ thunderhammer captain on a bike

Ended up losing everything by turn 6, all he had left was half of a bike unit, the whirlwinds, thunderfire cannon and 3 lascanon dev guys. Hammer and Anvil deployment and going second was what hurt the most I think. If I had stolen initiative or we had deployed other than hammer and anvil then I think I might have won. As is I beat down a list that has been giving many issues in the local group so I am happy and will try it some more.
