Gotta give you props for playing GK in a tourny. First off you need more long range anti-tank. You should have 3 Dreadnaughts with atleast one of them with a multimelta. Also you could bring a retinue for your Inquis Lord. Take 3 warriors with MM, Sages and Mystics. This list may very well destroy a horde army with all the psycannons, a couple tanks will shred it. My list at 1850 has 2-4 psycannons other than the one on the GM. There are just not enough regular GK on the table with this list. Also, if you end up playing kill points, 5 man squads will be the death of you. I think you are underestimating the value of a storm bolter. For the point you get 2 GKwith storm bolter and nemisis weapon or 1 psycannon GK. While statistically the 1 psycannon with kill slightly more at range (Psycannon kill 1.6 T4 models while storm bolters get 1.25), the 4 close combat S6 attacks outshine 1 or 2 S4. Also take a hood for pesky psychic stuff.

Would appreciate thoughts on this. I had considered going with a GK parent and inducted guard. But I think there is more flexibility with going IG parent and GK allies. (Clarified with tournament organisers that i can use allies)

For a tournament, I'd go with the IG parent. I find Dreadnoughts a bit fragile, but then I come up against (and use, for that matter) a lot of anti tank cheese. Have you considered Mystics?

Ok following comments from everyone and having a think I have revised the list. So here goes:

CCS: MofOrdnance, Lascannnon

PCS
Squad 1+ Chimera
Squad 2+ Chimera
Hvy Weaps - 3x Autocannons

Vet squad, Chimera - 2 Melta 1 Plasma

2x Leman Russ
1 Russ Demolisher

The GK part is this:

GM + 3 TAGKs (Will hitch a lift in a conveniently placed chimera on turn 1)

10 PAGK Squad in a Valkryie (For outflanking and securing an objective)

All that for a total of 1728 points, so 22 points to spend on shinies.

Thoughts and comments are welcome.

Now, I'm not exactly an expert on guard, but doesn't a platoon count as only one troop choice? To field daemnhunter allies all mandatory slots must be filled from the parent codex. It's a shame, but you'll probably have to drop a GK squad to make way for another Guard troop. The daemonhunter codex also says you can't take heavy support from daemonhunters, so unless it's appeared in the guard codex without me noticing, no landraider either.

Sorry, my mistake. How didn't I see that?

Seems good, though I'm a fairly casual player. One question, is there any way to upgrade that brother captain for a grand master? cos BCs only have one wound, which kinda sucks. I know that GMs are eighty points more, but with a BC you're buying a glorified sergeant.

Well that is the list I used last night for the practice game. And it is decidedly lacking, there is no last minute units for objective grabbing. I tried the castling technique of sitting back and shooting. However I think I left it too late to move and grab some objectives.

So it was Seize Ground with Dawn of War, there were 5 objectives as this is what the first game of the tournament uses.

So back to the drawing board for me maybe. Or I could just face up to the fact I will probably not win the first game.

Perhaps try dropping the Inducted IG and Taking a couple of Inq.Storm Troopers in a couple of Chrimaeras for last minute objective grapping? Not really my style but I tired a couple of times loaded up with Meltaguns so theyre a bit dual purpose as GKs seem to lack Anti-tank.

Also I dont know if it helps bit I always give Justicars Meltabombs and GM &BCs Hammerhand as I have always found invaluable for Anti-tank.

yup IG parent lists are awesome in general cause you have the meat shield and big guns (IG of course) and then you have the disruption super elite units to go after the elite infantry.
for the IG parent list i'd try to give the valyrie the missile pods ( not sure if you already did so) and possibly give the CCS a chimera, they're not going to be moving and the MOO along with the company commander are big targets. so might as well make them inside armor.
The DH parent list is pretty nice. The only hole i see in it is anti armor (trust me when i say BS GUARD won't take out too many targets without the CCS "bring it down" order).
