I have a tourney coming up at my local store (1750 pts) and can't decide whether to use my try and tested Word Bearers, or my relatively new 'nids. The Word Bearer list is as follows:

Chaos Lord - MOT, Power Weapon (Accursed Crozius) -120

8 Chosen - IOCG, Lascannon, 4 Plasma Guns - 249

10 CSM - IOCG, AC with Power Weapon, 2 Meltaguns, Rhino with Daemonic Possession and Twin-Linked Bolter - 270

10 CSM - IOCG, AC with Power Weapon, 2 Meltaguns, Rhino with Daemonic Possession and Twin-Linked Bolter - 270

9 Summoned Lesser Daemons - 117

9 Summoned Lesser Daemons - 117

3 Obliterators - 225

Defiler - 2 Extra CC Arms - 150

Defiler - 2 Extra CC Arms - 150

Total - 1748 pts

I want to try to keep with the feel of the army, but at the same time stand a chance of winning. Any comments or suggestions are welcome.

id take off the DP from the rhinos

id also drop the summoned demons

thatd be 274 (approx) points, so thats a good size NM / zerk squad & rhino

& you need a < 10 size unit so your lord can ride their pimped out ride...or else hes dead

Word Bearers worship Chaos Undivided, so that means no cult troops or God specific Marks (the exception is the MOT on the chaos lord, which when combined with his power weapon is used to represent him as a Dark Apostle) .

Word Bearers are also renowned for their use of summoned daemons, they fit in very nicely with the whole feel of the army. I don't want a typical CSM force just painted red and silver to show they're Word Bearers. I mean I could take them out, but what fluffy unit could I replace them with (if anyone's wondering why 9 summoned leeser daemons, I'll be using horrors to represent them and the Dark Apostle in me won't allow them to be fielded in anything other than units of 9 or 18) ?

Drop DP off the rhinos, and the extra bolters, stick on EA if you think you need it! My only worry is where your lord is gonna sit?? On his on hes a sitting duck, OK hes got a 4++ save but it only takes one ML, LC etc and hes toast,
I'd be tempted to either shuffle around the points and bring in a DP or use the chosen as a body guard, (but then you loose infilitrate/outflank)
I think DP would be the best way to go!

just find a fluff-able reason for using zerk/NM/tson/PM units - oh theyre the assault specialists, they just got lots of guns....etc etc

is it just me or do the chosen just seem...off i mean 1 lascannon w/ 4 plasma guns? it feels off...

IMHO you need some sort of CC oriented threat unit that your Lord can ride with (pimped out chosen?)
