I am preparing for an upcoming tournament, and I was wondering if anybody had any thoughts about the list I am going to run. I am looking for any constructive criticism. I would appreciate not being bombarded with "my army can beat yours because......" Well here is the list.

Boyz on bikes might be fun, but as a competitive unit, they are dubious at best. LD is a major concern. They're cost prohibitive to have "Fearless" and looking at the size of your warbike mobs, if they take 1 or 2 casualties they're going to break for it. Suddenly 75% of your troop choices are running for the border. Anyway you look at it, you have to use cover wisely and get them locked in as soon as possible. IMO 20 boyz in a BW are more durable and a much better choice. Stormboyz are a better choice used in conjunction with cover.

Nob Bikers are a death star unit but 10 might prove to be too unwieldly depending on the terrain. Be careful wasting pts. on war gear. I would just get enough gear for wound allocation (eg BP, WB, 2 PKs, & a Kombi Skorcha).

Heres a couple example lists. The second list being the more competitive of the two.

Battlewagon: Armour Plates; Deff Rolla; Red Paint Job; Big Shoota (x1)

Battlewagon: Armour Plates; Deff Rolla; Red Paint Job; Big Shoota (x1)

Total Roster Cost: 1749

The second list has a much greater chance of making it across the board with AV14, a KFF, and fire support from the Lootas.

Hope this helps. :picknose::good:

Good use of cover? There aren't many ways to avoid being shot at with True Line of Sight and the cover saves are better than everything but earthworks already. Just blitz and cheese as much as you can out of the Dakka Gun sexiness. =)

If using so few Warbikes he's going to have to use cover available or a vehicle of some sort for cover (i.e., Real cover, not concealment) to get them locked in before they run. That's why I typed up an example list of numbers and durability.

So you're saying, "Blitz with 3 Warbikes."? One casualty, LD test, failed save, 1 lonely Nob...on a bike. :eek:k:

I may be being silly and read the rules wrong, but don't all bikers get a 4+ cover save from their exhausts smoke (Not the 3+ cover for turbo boosting) so do they really need to find cover? Just charge straight forward. (Apart from this trinket of possibly rubbish info, I can't critic the list as not much experiance with orks)

4+ cover is right, but even so, a mob of 3 warbikes probably won't make it into combat. It only takes one casualty for a LD test. :eek:k:

The reason for the 3 bikers is that if they do run I am only losing 115 points. The full biker squad is 340 points, and that means if I lose 3 orks i can potentially lose the whole unit, but I can see your point. I was already toying with splitting the nobz into 2 squads of 6, and might to see what it looks like. keep the feedback coming.

That is exactly what I'm saying. It's not the easiest thing in the world to completely obscure a warbike. The most you could hope for is getting an entirely redundant cover save that he may have needed to risk a dangerous terrain test for thus chancing the ever terrifying LD roll. He doesn't have any vehicles to screen with either. At best those mosquito units are going to attempt to harass enemy units or support the nobs. Keeping them alive is a pipe dream.

Bikes come with their own cover save that becomes 3+ when the turboboost. The 3 man units are bait for someone to waste shots at. If they are trying to kill them than they aren't killing the big stuff, and if they ignore the 3 man units they will lose at least one tank a turn. Also, the def koptaz are alpha strike units that will harass the enemy as well, thus setting up for the nobz to sweep up and kill what is left.

Oh I understand the theory of that well enough. My point is that defensive tactics are wasted on them. More blitz more Dakka. It's not how I would play bikers but that isn't relevant to the discussion. I'm wary of concentrating so many points into those nob bikers. The glory of the bikers is the dakka gun.

Like who wouldn't want an average of 1 wound per model per shooting phase alone against marines? That's about as efficient as ork shooting gets.

I was wondering if you saw my updated list? I split the nobz into 2 6 man units.

Im just finishing an ork biker mob and have just checked out your recent list. why have you used so many big choppas? If you chop the end off a big choppa you get a choppa. Nobz with choppas have an extra attack and a strength bonus for fc on the charge.

You can use the points you save to buy extra warbuggies. field a unit of 3 with twin linked rokkits and something is going to go boom. They also benefit from a motorcycle escort (the ork bikers are bigger and can easily be arranged to obscure half the buggies to give them a 4+ save.

Although I can see the benefits of Waz and warbos,s i'd consider ditching the warboss and using more buggies. more warbuggies means more rokkits.

2 units of nob bikers is pretty awesome and if you build them up to look like cyborks they will look mean, but for the points cost you should consider1 unit and more bikers. you will nearly double your troops (handy for assaulting units) and still have a powerklaw in each unit to smash vehicles.

Finally turbo boosting your whole army in turn 1 becomes a bit of a drag. I completely underestimated how effective twin linked dakka guns are even with a low ballistic skill. Turbo boost the unit led by waz from the back of the pitch and bring the others up behind unleashing dakka as they go.

sorry there is a lot there and I realise changes cost money. I went through 3 army lists before I came up with a kult of speed i was happy with. good luck
