Greetings Brothers,

I've been looking for a way to get my Raven Guard into a competitive scene for quite some time recently. One thing I like about my lists is the fluff behind them and that they tie to the army. This one obviously being Raven Guard. In every ones head, fluff is different so i'm just going to put forward my views. Originally I wanted a raven guard list without Thunderfire Cannons or Heavy Armour (Eg only dreadnoughts or speeders) but as I started to play with lists I had a major drawback of no support from the back lines so decided to lift the 'ban' on the cannons.

That been said this is the 3rd list i've drawn up and I would like some feedback on it.

Still a few tweaks here and there needed but here goes anyway:

Chapter Tactics - Raven Guard

HQ
Librarian - 120 pts
Terminator Armour
Force Sword
Lvl 2 Mastery
Melta Bombs

Elites
Legion of the Damned - 170pts

Multi-melta

Combi-melta and Power Axe on Sarge

Troops
Scouts - 125pts

Camo Cloaks
4x Snipers
Heavy Bolter w/ Hellfire

4x Snipers
Heavy Bolter w/ Hellfire

Tactical Squad - 145pts

Meltagun
Combi-Melta
Melta Bombs
Droppod w/ Deathwind

Tactical Squad - 145pts

Meltagun
Combi-Melta
Melta Bombs
Droppod w/ Deathwind

Fast Attack
Stormtalon - 125pts
TLAC
Skyhammer

Stormtalon - 125pts

Heavy Support
Devastators - 165pts
5x
4x ML without Flakk
Droppod w/ Deathstorm

Thunderfire Cannon - 100pts

Thunderfire Cannon - 100pts

Total - 1484/1500pts

Starting from the top, I wasn't so sure which Hq I wanted as the rest of my lists usually had Shrike in with some vanguard but I was finding he wasn't making it to where he should so, HQ is a little flexible right now and thought why not have some more support.

Fluff behind the legionaries is that they are 'fallen' brother from Istvann V come to aid the chapter in he present to help bolster numbers but again needed something to help in a niche I suppose. The fact these guys get to reroll scatter will help.

The only things I am certain on are the two Stormtalons they have always performed for me and to me I see them as a backbone for the swift moving raven guard.

Troops wise, sniper scouts hold the back and help take out what they can from the back with the snipers and HB, while the storm squad can be used as an early game rush to get the multi melta off and help support the drop pods in turn one or a late game objective grabber. But their basically a denial unit or tie up unit for what its worth, hoping the cerb launcher will help.

Tact squads do what you think they do, come in turn one, pop vehicles and mop up return fire and be a deep trouble maker all the while the canons providing coving fire front the back. Devvies can be used for anti horde or vehicle duties depending on the situation.

I know for this list i'm not making the full use out of the tactics but jump packs at the moment I don't believe they have what it takes for competitive play.

My main outlook is to solidify the HQ and elite choices or change anything which you believe might be a weak point. I'm open to all suggestions so fire away.

Thanks again,
Nitro

get rid the drop pod on the devastator squad, and the combi melta on the scout squad, and add 5 marines to a tactial squad. leave this tactical squad in reserve.

now if we can trim another 70 points somewhere, and do the same thing to the other, maybe even another 30? to give them both a multimelta... now we be cookin'

im not so sure about the bookkeeper, I dont dislike him, but I dislike his kit. and what is his use? you cant roll on divination, and there isnt a unit for him to tank with. maybe a MOF with a conversion beamer to hang out with the devastators would be a better fit. giving a scout squad, or himself a stupid good cover save. hell, move the 5 marines from the 1st turn tactical squad and add them to the devastator squad for more bodies.

thats were I would start, although a solid list to start with at 1500 points, very well done sir.

The droppod on the devastator squad is for the turn 1 drops of both tact squads.
I was leaving the multi meltaing to the Legion as they have slow and purposeful (therefore by extension relentless) so they can use it when they deep strike in. I doubt any vehicle will be left standing by turn 2/3 *fingers crossed*

Rethinking the HQ choice a bit i've decided for a bit of fluff and a moriat approach. Captain with Jetpack and two plasma pistols. Running round and sniping people before jumping away again. I'd like Artificer armour on him but points be missing :(
