Grand Master 250pts

The Soul Glaive, Curiass of Sacrifice, Psycannon (Master-crafted) *

Elites

Purifier Squad X4 820pts

5 Purifers per squad w/ Nemesis Warding Stave X1, Razorback w/ lascannon as Dedicated Transport

Heavy Support

Nemesis Dreadknight X2 430pts

Heavy Incinerator, Heavy Psycannon, Personal Teleporter

* I know the rules say you can't have more than one relic but in my group we've a long standing house rule that relics/artefacts etc can be taken as much as you want hence I've included them both here.

This is something I've been tinkering with for the past couple of days. Not exactly the most competitive list but very different to what I've done previously with GK's (primarily Terminators/Land Raiders/Librarians). One of the things I wanted was as much Warp Charge as possible as I play amongst very psychic heavy armies and was always finding myself being out psykered. This list wouldn't have to deal with any Flyers as no-one in my area has any (you might even call it a no-fly zone ). Regular opponents would be Tau, Eldar/Dark Eldar, Orks, Daemons and Chaos Space Marines. I appreciate any insight and critiques my Battle-Brothers can offer.

Grey Knight characters are one of those codices that say each character can only take one. you can't have the Glaive AND the Cuirass.

So.... no Troops = Unbound list? That changes things entirely. See below.

Purifier Squad X4 820pts

Nemesis Warding Stave X1, Razorback w/ lascannon
Meh. I guess Purifiers because you wanted the level 2 psykers. You don't have a lot of details here... are you running 40 of them, combat squaded, for 16 WC out of them?

MATH: Nope. 4 squads of 5 in the Razorback. Um.... I guess?

Heavy Support

Nemesis Dreadknight X2 430pts

Heavy Incinerator, Heavy Psycannon, Personal Teleporter
Well, that's required.

Ok. First thoughts... I don't like it. Let me explain..

Your Grand Master, besides having too many relics, has no place in the army. If you want Warp Charge, you should be going Level 3 Librarian with the Liber Demonica over anything else. Since you're playing unbound, the Grand Master literally can't hide anywhere. No terminators, no transports, no assistance of any kind. He's easy Slay the Warlord and First Blood, even with the Cuirass, since there's no Eternal Warrior. One lascannon and you fail a 5++ and that's that.

Your Purifers exist as warp charge batteries. Great. What else? There are cheaper ways to get lascannon razorbacks. Yeah, you can ride around Nova'ing, but you'd probably do good finding points for some Incinerators out of the firing points too, at the very least.

Honestly though, if you're doing this unbound, there are so many other options. Run Librarius Conclaves. Stack Blood Angel drop pods (especially with purifiers with incinerators). The knew Psykana Division from Imperial Guard even.

@Xabre I've put more detail into the Purifier line so you can see how they're running. I've used Librarians before and they ALWAYS let me down. Too easy to kill and then bang 2/3 warp charge gone. And they offer nothing in close-combat as they're always outnumbered and drown through sheer weight of numbers or targeted by an elite cc unit. As regards the relics it's house-ruled in my parts that you can take what you want. I'll edit my op as I forget that it was a house-rule it's been in play so long.

Maybe if you weren't trying to run the Librarian solo?

For the same cost as one of your Purifier Squads with Razorback, you could have 5 Terminators, a Hammer, a Psycannon, and 4 Halberds. Maybe even some Falchions on the Justicar, I haven't mathed the squad out lately. You only lose one warp charge, but gain a lot of durability and survivability. Even better, at that point you qualify for the Nemesis Strike Force Detachment, so you could deep strike in the Dreadknights and the 6 terminators all on first turn on a good roll, instead of it being an unbound army and not gaining any benefits. You lose one lascannon and 1 warp charge, and gain one psycannon and a stronger squad in general.

Then I'd downgrade the Grand Master to a Librarian, and with all the extra points by 6 incinerators for your Purifiers. With the level 3 Librarian, you don't lose any Warp Charge by the end.

That is an interesting point. I might just play around with throwing a Termie squad in for a Purifier squad.

If I attach the Librarian at least the Termis give him a sort of bodyguard. Might stop him dying every game.

Thanks for the input Xabre.
