Dropping a single Dread is a suicide for him. Or you are trying to divert enemy fire from your tanks? Than take a cheaper fire magnet. And, grapple + blood talons (if that's what you mean) are S6 attacks against armour - not 100% deadly. Also, lack of extra armor may be a serious drawback if he lives into second turn.

These guys dramatically lack a sanguinary priest or two. Also, don't think a single storm shield is of so much use.

With a dreadnought "already there" and two assault squads arriving "in his face" on turn two, scattering S10 Big Blasts (if you play RAI and not RAW) may be as deadly for you, as for your opponent.

At the moment, I'd say your "CC hammer" can be strengthen with Priests, and your "Ordnance hammer" won't be synergetic to assault specialists.

Hope this gives some food for thought.

There's one huge issue with your "Hammer". The rest of your army. If you want to pound somebody with pie plates you need to have the rest of your forces able to support them, not get in the way. Vindicators and Tactical Squads work together. Baal Predators and Assault Squads work together. Vindicators and Assault Squads really should never be on the same part of the battlefield. At 2500 you can make an army work using both very effectively. At 1500 you need a truly obliging (see def.: stupid) enemy.

The lone Dreadnought in a Drop Pod is either a game winner or easy meat. If you've got a table that lets you drop the Pod on an Objective outside your Deployment Zone AND enemy LoS it's great. Any other time it forces you to have units on the table at the start to prevent the enemy from turning it into scrap as their only target. The Blood Angels have the ability to field armies that can arrive totally in the enemy half of the table. But with only a single pod you've either given up that option or thrown away the pod. I'm not saying it can't work, just that you are limiting your options by having it.

Use the shock power of Descent of Angels if you are bringing assault troops with jump packs. I suggest dropping the Vindicators for something to either get up in the enemy's face with the assault units or forces them hide while the RAS move. Since suppression is almost impossible to achieve in 40K you'll need up close support. The easiest fixes, using the 310 Vindicator points, are to add a pair of Sanguinary Priests (two of them with power sword and jump pack are only 180 points), and a Librarian (Unleash Rage & Blood Lance is a good combo) with a Jump Pack. The Furioso needs Extra Armor much more than the Grapple and fortunately they cost the exact same amount. A Stunned, unable to charge, Dreadnought is as worthless as a destroyed Dreadnought.

If you really love those pie plates then go with mechanized RAS in Razorbacks. Add a unit of Sanguinary Guard (220 gets you Power Fist and Infernus Pistol and they are scoring) for Dante and use all the other points you've got in RAS for as many RAS-5 in Razors as you can. It's only 145 points to get an RAS-5 in twin HB Razorback with Power Sword and Melta Gun.

I quite like the list. It is lacking in solid anti tank however.

The Furioso needs EA. Nothing says you have to drop down into melta range of your enemy, sure he's not amazing but I wouldn't say it's necessarily 'suicide' - I drop a single DC Dread at <1500 points and he does 'ok', less well against SM/IG obviously but very well against Nids. Dreads are never going to be tank hunters, it's a fail to play them that way, plus BA have far better options for killing tanks. In my army my dreads are there to tackle things my MEQs/HQ can't - quite often that's Terminators, Tyranid Warriors/Primes, Genestealers etc. A Furioso only has to be suicidal if you play him like so (like I see players drop generic melta dreads) which is not worth it. Blood Talons and AV13 really is nasty, I promise you he will come in so unbelievably useful against Tyranids, just give him EA so he can always move/attack.

Since you're dropping AV13 turn 1 it would help if your RAS were in Rhinos, fast means you'll be forcing any lascannons or multi-meltas to choose targets instead of just shooting the Furioso & or Vindicators/Baals.

Sanguinary Priests can be very useful as Shwartz said above, if you have a spare elite slot grab a few of these guys (they don't need any fancy wargear). But if you're not taking them then why not take another 2 Furiosos in Pods, give these two Fists & EA?

RAS are ok. Thunder hammer & storm shield is too expensive IMO; just a hammer, power fist or power weapon will do.

Baals... Good choice.

Vindicators. My personal opinion is that they're still bobbins, fast or not. If you were playing me there'd be no issue with RAI vs. RAW since it's clearly a type error & will be errata/faq'd soon. Still, I'd drop these for one of a few options just because they're too inaccurate and most canny players spread their troops out (especially Nid/Ork players) get either:

- 2 TL-Autocannon rifleman dreads (cheap and massive firepower)
- 2 more Furiosos with pods & EA (because 3 are better than 1)
- 4-6 Multi melta attack bikes / MM/HF Land speeders. Fast and kill enemy tanks, they also don't run the chance of killing your own dudes which Vindicators do (killed my own CSM Berzerkers too many times to remember!). I recommend these since they can kill tanks and open up transports for your troops/dread to eat.
- 2 Predators with whatever armaments you want, I'd get Lascannon Sponsons and Autocannon turret but there are arguments for the Lascannon turret and Heavy Bolter sponsons.
- Devastators. Just a unit to think about, because a unit of these with 4 missile launchers is dirt cheap :)

I would get a third troops choice, probably put more dreads and get out vindis/preds especially vindis, however im starting to hate all AVs inside BA dex, now i only like razorbacks and dredis, and because that maybe i would get all av out my lists even i like playing mephi.

Ill get Dante out also, he is doing nothing at all there, no elite squad dropping with him and no sanguinary guard to make them troops( anyways i dont like this unit).

The thing with dredis is that, like i thought and ive read in some dread lists, av 13 from furiosos are nice but, if you suffer from inmobilize(especially) or weapon destroyed your almost nothing then, making that each penetration hit the 50% times is like "destroyed", and 66% will let your dread kinda useless. After this, without EA is even worst, making him waiting for next turn doing nothing and getting the 83% worth penetrating hits for the enemy.

I like dreads but this makes me thing about, and from taking 4-5 vehicles to nothing in my list, so at least enemy waste some shots.

Dante has some cool rules but you're not using him to full advantage by taking SG as troops.

The solo dreadnought won't last long and it's the only pod in the list. You need min 3 and anymore should be odd number.

Troops are ok but you don't need storm shield.

Armour is all ok but not much of a hammer IMO.

well i have played that army 6 times now and the record with it 4 wins 1 tie 1 loss. i have played eldar and chaos. one match was a 2 vs 1 and i came out on top. The whole point of the army is to cripple the other player and let him/her bleed out. and dont put down the vindi's they killed a deamon prince for me while covering my assault squad.

So with 9 FC attacks they've managed to hit and roll high enough to kill AV10? Don't you think it's more of luck? They are just 3 plain bolters - no PF forgotten somewhere, right? And what HQ was that?

And, maybe it's a matter for batrep section, but:
- how the daemon prince was killed (except for the last shot) and how came he was standing alone in the open?
- how are you deploying/what's your tactics of mixing assault marines and Vindicator pie plates (that's kinda "how are you going to play this list" - not quite off topic)?

we played a pitch battle. what i had on the board was 2 baals and 1 vindi. The deamon prince took 1 round of shooting from one of my baal preds then followed up by the pie plates took 3 turns to bring him he went almost acrossed the board.. as for the hq i was playing againts eldar and i shot him to death in 1 turn(dante cursed him). as for the tank i got a few lucky rolls on damage then on pin i rolled 5 and 6.
