New to Imperial, have several armies but I thought of an awesome themed army and Imperial Guard are perfect. That and I've always been interested in the Last Chancers and Gaunt's Ghosts.

Lots of plasma and melta but little armor and artillary, it worries me and I dont really know how to improve this some more. Maybe Marbo to help too but I would like some advice. Plan on trying this out for fun and playing competitive maybe.

Units considering to include; MoO (bombs coming down every turn), Ratling Squad (everyone likes snipers), Marbo (From nowhere and Boom!), HWS (lots of guns and I have a few of these guys), penal legion (crazy maniacs on the field), sentinels (have a few), bane wolf (2+ poison goodness), Medusa (I like this artillary piece)

You should dress a vet squad similar three of one weapon, if you choose plasma also pick up carapace armor.

Shotguns are nice on melta vet squads because it leaves you the option to assault after the shooting phase.

You cannot take a SWS without a platoon so take that out of your list to pay for the grenadiers upgrade.

I personally think a 6 troop choice list is going to have weak points, use 4 squads two of each kind

Don’t use vendettas as transport only for long range anti tank fire. Its mixed rolls this gunship is not made to go flat-out into 12 inch death zones. The astropath is good but the officer of the fleet is not worth the 30 points you need to focus more points into firepower.

edit: will change advisor depending on games, also if LR arn't a great way to go Stormtroopers who could infiltrate could take their spots.

looks pretty good you could do some damage with that armor line, im not a fan of the punisher to expensive for 6 wounds on MEQ that allow saves. IMO two demolishers would be more havoc as a pushing armor wall for the chims to sneak behind safely the list looks alot better and could work very well.

Nice list, except for the Punisher...against SM's it will achieve very little for reasons BodyCount gave, and a Demolisher or Executioner will serve you far better.

EA isn't worth the points, and would actually be better spent on giving the Vendettas HB's instead.

I don't see the point of a Punisher. Everything it does, an LRBT or an Executioner does MUCH better. Hordes? It's not even a case of "But the Punisher does everything those two do, but not as good!", he simply has no place. If your enemy is in hordes, use templates. Templates that are almost guaranteed to hit a transport that the 20shot gun can only glance. Templates that actually ignore half the armour saves. Templates that actually have greater than assault range.
Another gun that beats the snot out of the Punisher is the Exterminator. But I have a soft spot for Autocannons.

60 free now-several options, HOBO I'd like to know why give the vendettas HBs? Havent played a game with flying units before but so many points on a flyer scares me, clip the wing and its like an action movie. How are hunter killer missiles? Maybe a sentinel for late game objective grab or a platoon command with some melta power. Now really sure where to put the points, and if I do put HBs on the Vens I have 20pts left over.

As far as giving Vendettas HB's, I said that simply because it's a better buy than EA. You could leave them off like you have with this latest list though, but 10 pts (not 20) for 2 HB's is actually a good deal, and because of the way it moves and fires its weaponry you will get to shoot them if you want.

Still, it comes down to what else you can spend the 60 points on..you have a lot of anti-armour already, do you need the Exterminator rather than an anti-infantry tank?
Only you know the answer, but the top 3 Russes (not in order) are the LRBT, Demolisher and the Executioner, Exterminator would be 4th. The Exterminator is also the best Tank to give to Pask..you have the points.

You might as well give the CCS their 4th SW as well, no point wasting a slot.

That sounds like one of a plan +BS and all the other benefits Pask is to be feared, and the last 10 on a melta in the command squad and I cant wait to try this list out.

The best part is that I already have every unit, they just need some assembly and and the parts to come in for their 'theme'. Oh and loads more of meltas and plasma, so not quite there yet but one step at a time.

EDIT: What would you suggest for a 2000pt expansion?

I was thinking a Val, Vet squad, another CCS, and maybe another tank most likely LR

Your expansion plans sound good to me..just keep filling out your Troop, FA and HS slots. The best Elite choice for a Mech list is a PBS in a Chimera..something to consider.

Another way to go is to include some Artillery and also a Platoon...plays differently, can be even more devastating and effective. It's all good..we have a strong Codex:victory:
