Well, at least i know whom im playing this Wednesday.

Going up against the WH, never played against WH If his other 2 armys are anything to go buy then there will be quite a bit of mech and lots of foot sloggers

He did make the wild boast that i will burn under the many flamers he has.

As far as i am aware the WH dont have anything which has a Armour rating of 14 so ive gone for a approach of weapons that are useful against both infantry and vehicles.

10 SM with melta and Plasma cannon
10 SM with melta and Plasma cannon
10 SM with plasma cannon

Elite
10x terminators with assault cannon (grouped with lysander)
Dreadnought with Assault cannon and Missile launcher
Dreadnought with Assault cannon and Missile launcher

Heavy
Predator with autocannon and Heavy bolter sponsons

the aim im going for would be to have some range on the flamers i know he will be heavy on so the mass bolter fire should help with the plasma cannons

the meltas are there should he get close enough with any walkers or tanks with flamers.

the dreads are there to support the troops positions. the ML will come in handy against both vehicles and troops and the assault cannon will add to the fire.

the predator is a wild card, im going to move this where the infantry are the heaviest. though should he have an extreme amount of armor i may swap this for 2 assault bikes with Multi meltas

lysanders bolter drill will come in handy with the terminators 9 storm bolter's on re-rolls to hit plus the assault cannon.. lovely :D, plus there close combat strength.
these guys will be advancing against the bulk of his force to provide a distraction and keep him away from getting to close to the troops

any suggestions for improvements are welcome :D

looks pretty good, but just a few things:
Bolter drill doesn't affect the assault cannon I'm afraid
I might drop one of the dreads to buy rhinos/ razorbacks for your tacticals so they can avoid the flames for a bit ( i have seen 4 flamers wipe out 10 MEQs, so I take them seriously) and have more mobility.
I think it's a good approach to try and get into CC with them, since they are basically guardsmen in power armour, so it might be beneficial to assault with your tactical marines.
As far as the termies go, how will you use them? if you DS them then they will get hit by every melta in the WH army. If they are just there for fire support I would drop them and lysander and get a cheaper HQ and more dakka. If you want to get up close and personal with them, then I would recommend swapping them out for TH/SS termies so they can shrug off the melta fire coming towards them long enough to get into CC and kill stuff.

They actually do have access to Av 14. Believe it or not they can get their own Land Raider. :p

I myself wouldn't use TH/SS Termies, as you suggested he'd have alot of foot slogging meaning lots of Bolter Fire.

To be honest his army will be mostly be made of Battle Sisters, maybe traveling in Immolater's, (Pretty much Rhino's with Twin heavy flamers) as hes bragging about flaming you, so all you need to focus on is anti MEQ, which plasma covers nicely.

Alternatively you could just mech up. Flamer's and bolter's can't do a hell of alot to armor. :p

Well, i have several options

I was not planing on DS, though if the terrain ends up open i may try that to flank him.


If i was to drop anything to replace with transport i would drop the predator as the dreads ML is providing my LR anti armor

I could mech up and bring in more Armour maybe a land raider or crusader but that depends heavily on how may meltas he brings in to play.
I have a few more dreads i could use.

He likes to play point control or annihilation so i will need to keep a heavy troop contingent if we end up playing control.

lol, if he brings a LR on then it looks like ill bring on the attack bikes though i doubt he will bring one on.

As for the termies i dont have 10 Th/SS anyways, though i could make up an assault element out of claws and TH. though then the difficulty is getting close so i would need to bring on a crusader to transport.... not to fond of DS lol

Based on his past i am expecting him to be heavy infantry with support armor and a few walkers.

WH arent really that hard to beat. id say take an assault squad or two and some stern guard. they have T3 so bolters wound on a 3+ but they are S3 and they have bolters so they want to keep away from you. they can have a 3+invul for one turn so the plasma might not really be beneficial. although it would make them burn their faith if he wanted to...

i would say to go with a vulcan or shrike list and get up close and personal with some assault squads. if you take shrike you can infiltrate the assault squad with him 18 inches away and be sure to have an assault turn 1. if you use vulcan you can beat his flamers with better and a larger quantity of flamers and melta that are all twin linked. since yours will wound on 3's and his on 4's.

also maybe take a speeder or two with heavy flamer and multi melta or even 2 of either. imagine moving up to a group of foot slogging sisters and using 2 heavy flamers on them that are twin linked. wounds on 2+ and you have re roll to wound. awesome.

he isnt really gonna wanna get into assault because they arent really good at it with too much, so an assault force would be best with light armor support.

something like this is what i would do.

you have 3 troops with transports. just as many flamers but yours kill better. plus enough anti AV to take down his AV10 or AV11 walkers and all his transports and tanks. plus an assault squad that can get up close and personal and take down a lot off sisters. and a little anti AV14 with those lasscannons but not really a lot there.

yea i agree with trueclaw :goodpost:, tho ive only faced WH 2 times i ran a pretty similar list to what he mentioned and it worked moderatly well, (but i cant really blame my bad playing on the list) i felt it gives alot of comfort room if you wind up doin something you reget , and my biggest killer was that i found out the hard way they have the mass of guns like the guard and the quality of space marines when it comes to armor and weapons

ah, lack of models sucks. well if you dont have the double auto cannons i would say buy them because they are a good investment.

if you cant do all the rhinos and you dont have the speeder maybe you have drop pods? and MM and HF arms for dreads? that also is a good way to use them. say drop the speeder for 2 dreads with MM and HF and put them in pods.

i only buy razorbacks but they come with the rhino door now so you can switch between rhino and razor. much cheaper than buying 6 of each.

you can drop one tac squad down to 5 man and put them in a razorback for holding a home objective. lass plas razors are the best IMO.

if you cant put the assault squad in a rhino keep the jump packs and be careful with them.

lol, i have an unusual mix of models...
I can field any of the below, so there is plenty to pick from to make a decent list from

100 SM (3xmelta, 3x plasma, 4x ML, 3xHB, 4xFlammer, 1xMM, 3xPlasma cannon)..(40 are metal san just been stripped so have no weapon loadout)
50 terminators (Mix of assualt and regular plus varoius weapon load outs)..(35 metal which have been stripped so need assembling)

lol, these are all second hand (not bought a single item from GW)

I can see what i have in my bits box, dont think i have a spare MM, i only have 1 marine with a MM.

I can kit some one out with a comb Melta no probs
Ill have to use a few LC i think as i only have 3 thinuder hammers, though i suppose i could say to him what they are representing

nope not got any pods.

If i do make something up i wont have the time between now and wednesday :(
I have to ask though, this is a very anti armor complement, if he faces me off with plenty of infantry i could be in trouble

I played a list very similar to this with only a few minor adjustments and got a Draw lol, he managed to contest the the objective on the last turn in the assault phase. Only one Sister was left out of the squad but enough for a draw

If the army is an Immo spam list, i wouldnt go for Anti Meq, focus on volume of fire, the vehicles are light so Auto cannons tear through them, plasma wouldnt have a massive effect on the sisters due to acts of faith giving them Invuns equal to their armour, try to take the armour out Asap, when your in a short range fire fight with a sisters army you will loose. the acts of faith allow them to achieve ap 2 with flamers and bolter fire so be careful.

Another point to note, is unlike razorbacks Immolators have a fire point, be very wary of this. Either way good luck.
