1500 pts WoC Tzeentch

Seeing the new rules and our inability to field large blocks of useful infantry (thats just an opinion, not a fact :p) and consequently not being able to dish out the ridiculous amount of hits per round like lots of units will be, I decided to go for an all-Tzeentchian army, in order to get some annoying ward saves and badass Sorcerers. This list is more of a grinder than the steamrolling monster like previous WoC lists used to be, but I'm curious what are the Warshrines who are now officially Monsters going to do, especially with that extra D6 attack from Thunderstomp (even though these attacks are ASL).

Heres the list:

Sorcerer Lord; MoT, lvl4, Infernal Puppet, Helm of Discord - 355

Exalted Hero; BSB, Blasted Standard, Shield, MoT - 190

18xWarriors; Shield, MoT, Musician, Standard - 326

18xWarriors; Shield, MoT, Musician, Standard - 326

Warshrine; MoT - 150

Warshrine; MoT - 150

Total: 1497

Comments and criticism are more than welcome. :)

not allowed 2 arcane items sorcerer i would go puppet conjoined homoculus and if you want protection from magic on a unit get fury of the blood god not fluffy but could say it's tzeentch blessing the character and protecting him from magic

Fixed, and its both fluffy and awesome. Anything else? :)
Is this list so bad you just don't know where to start fixing it or what? Please tell me thats why I posted it up here. :(
It's not bad. I'm not a fan of warshrines, but a lot of people like them. I always found the points better spent on more Warriors.

I'd try to find a way to bump the units up to 19-strong instead of 18, and run them 5-wide. While I recognize the multiple of 9 is fluffy, a 4x5 block of Warriors lead by a hero of any description is outrageously hard to crack. While it's true that you're not getting as many attacks out of a five-wide formation as you could potentially out of something running six or seven-wide, the rank bonus makes it possible to actually break units in single rounds of combat. Keep in mind that Steadfast makes the game a slog for Warriors units without ranks. Warriors of Tzeentch are well equipped to do that sort of thing with the improved shield bonus, though, so it's a tough call.

At 1500 points, I'd certainly drop at least one of the Warshrines-- one is plenty. You need something quick to back up the Warriors and flank enemy units that they hit. Warhounds aren't bad for that job, and they're quite cheap. They won't actually kill anything, but they'll be able to get in and hit flanks, which will help your Warriors out immensely as long as you charge in tandem with them. Marauders are also a good buy. A unit of 25 or so with flails is an excellent investment, and add some much-needed numbers to the army.

Ultimately, keep in mind that Fantasy is much more tactics-centric than 40k-- what works for some people on paper won't necessarily work for everyone. Your list as it currently stands could work quite well-- I'd certainly play it a couple times and see for yourself what works, and then try out suggested things. There's no simple "list building fix" like there seems to be in 40k.

I thought that if I stick to the holy number of Tzeentch I might get a bit more lucky on ward saves, but you're right, I'll have to comb the list to get two more Warriors. :)

Hmm-hmm... Its interesting how I instinctively take pairs of everything without giving it too much thought. :p I think I'll go with Marauders instead of the puppies (; _ ;) so I'll have some meat on my bone and hey, they might just kill something. :)

I'll try not to forget that. :)

So heres an updated list with some extra meat:

Sorcerer Lord; MoT, lvl4, Infernal Puppet - 325

Exalted Hero; BSB, Blasted Standard, Shield, MoT - 190

19xWarriors; Shield, MoT, Musician, Standard - 342

19xWarriors; Shield, MoT, Musician, Standard - 342

24xMarauders; Flails, MoK - 150 (I think I'll set their heads on fire to keep in line with the theme :D)

Warshrine; MoT - 150

Total: 1499
