This double dreadnought list is something I've been thinking about doing after playing a few games and realizing I don't have sufficient tank hunting firepower. I know chaos dreadnoughts are silly but if you can push them up away from your own stuff their frenzied shots could be a blessing. The Berzerker squad without a rhino runs in the raider with Kharn. I wanted to include the noise marines because I've found that I don't like paying for 3 squads of berzerkers only to have one sit on a home objective the whole game instead of going out and taking the fight to the enemy. The noise marines allow me to take home objectives and lay down some serious firepower with their sonic weapons.

Let me know what you guys think about how this would fare in a competitive situation. I'm going to give it a few playtests and see how things go. Cheers!

this list is playable as is, but of course, my preferences:

no MM on the Dreads; no need to fry yourself, but TBH, the MM could be a good idea as long as your run those guys fast and forward of your army. the 45 degree ruling helps you out.

if you're bent on all squads moving forward more power to you, though i would actually consider PM's for sit at home.

the saved point could get you another FOC choice, perhaps almost another Oblit if done right.

drop the Storm Bolters from the rhinos and he Vindie, and get Oblits. you need accurate, steady and consistent fire support besides the LR and the Dreads to bust transports.

the LR is decent enough with Possession to kill rhinos, but your Dreads not so much, plus the MM have a limited range as well.

good hunting.

Thanks for the input Inquisitor, I'm new around here but I always see you chiming in on people's army lists and you've always got great advice so thanks for taking a look at mine.

I tried a test game against my brother tonight who was using my DA with a few bonuses to make sure it acted like a legitimate competitive space marine army and I fared quite well, ending the game with a 2-0 victory. Multimelta dreads actually did their job well, I made sure they were on the front lines and they create an excellent distraction, even when they're not popping transports. The noise marines didn't really do it for me, they ended up charging up the flank in their rhino, pouring some shots into a marine squad and then promptly dying (their rhino lived on to contest an objective).

I think you're right about this list having some definite shortcomings in ranged high-strength weaponry which will be needed against lots of mech so I'll be trying this revised list out against my friend's mech orks asap.

Looks like a solid list to me! One thing I would maybe look at trying out would be to change one Skull Champ to a Power Weapon, and ride that squad and Kharn in the LR. Not much can ignore that many PW attacks in combat.

Only something to try. That list is incredibly solid as is :eek:k:

looks good! Personaly I'd give the dreadnaught 2 DCCWs so it can't go shooty crazy on you! Then I trade the plague marines for another zerker squad, then you'll have a solid KHORNE army! Happy Gaming!:biggrin::mrgreen:

much appreciated, and you're welcome. i like the second list, but without the 2nd Dread the second one is less of a threat, but could still work.

the kitting of your squads on the 2nd list tells me you're for attacking with the whole list, not sitting at home for you eh?

the Oblits should do better at killing armor for your squads to get to.

good hunting.

Haha yeah, no sitting at home for me, I'm all in!

Lorgar, I do have a lot of berzerkers that I can try different lists with so I plan on running total Khorne occasionally. It's my personal favorite

Dawnstar, thank you! While it is a lot of power weapon attacks I have occasionally had Kharn split from the unit to punish some errant enemies and I do get worried about dreadnoughts and monstrous creatures piling into the cc with my unsupervised berzerkers, but I'll definitely give the power weapon a go.
