I want to do a mostly Khorne themed army, and after having my ass kicked so many times with my out-dated dark angels I want to make a pretty competitive list. This will also act as a kind of checklist as I build my new army first to 1500, then to 2000. Let me know what you think, thanks!

----Troops----
7x Khorne Berzerkers

If you truly want to run a Prince, a Mark of Nurgle is needed. You want him to fall to pansy boltgun fire? 4 Troops at this level will not work when you're taking from the Chaos Codex, so I'd suggest dropping one Zerker squad, and making sure there are two meltaguns in that CSM squad with a combi-melta sarge. I hate 1500. Don't believe it when people try to tell you our game is based on that points value. 1850 or 2k works a lot better with the older books. You don't need two Vindicators. This may be a model restriction, but you'd be better off getting two more Oblits in a slot than a Vindi.

Here's something I did for 1500:
Kharn
2x8 Zerks, Pfist Champ, Rhino w/EA
3x Dreads w/MM, EA
2x Oblits
Defiler 2ccw
Vindicator w/Possession

Chaos Dreadnoughts, while utterly idiotic, will save you when they are not running after Devilfish for an entire game. Remember, fire frenzy only happens within that 45 degree arc of sight from the walker's hull-mounted weaponry. And three of them are only 345 pts.

Here's a first approximation. Thoughts?

Thanks for the input Ishmael. Your list looks pretty interesting and fun to play, but won't objective based games be a pain with only two scoring units and all those slow dreads just going berzerk all over the battlefield?

On another note, do you think that Kharn would be more comfortable with a squad of berzerkers, or possibly terminators being delivered in a land raider (thinking towards 2,000 points now)?

As has been my experience, Chaos Land Raiders are nothing more than an AV14 Rhinos. Raiders are harder to use at this points level, and you'll never fire your lackluster weaponry. I find it better to save points, just buy them a Rhino, and be able to fit in more that will affect the game.

As for only having two scoring units, even if they are Zerkers, combat is just a secondary role. In a recent game, objectives were placed in a triangular formation that I was able to string them between to hold multiple objectives. Everything else in that list goes out to kill the enemy. Kharn is useful so long as he jumps on something and kills it, or ties a unit up for a turn. I use him as a last line of defense while my Zerks get objectives. The Rhinos get to block movement as well.

Just some entertainment for thought. :)
