Hey folks, what do you think of a list like this:

HQ:

Autarch with WJG, Mandiblasters, Powerweapon and Fusion gun (125)

Troops:

10 Dire Avengers: Exarch with dual shuricats and Bladestorm
+ Wave Serpent: TL Brightlances, Spirit stones (297)

10 Dire Avengers: Exarch with dual shuricats and Bladestorm
+ Wave Serpent: TL Brightlances, Spirit stones (297)

5 Pathfinders (120)

Fast Attack:

6 Warp Spiders: Exarch with additional Deathspinner, Powerblades and Withdraw (174)

Heavy Support:

Fire Prism with Holo-fields (150)

Fire Prism with Holo-fields (150)

3 War walkers with 6 Scatterlasers (180)

Total: 1493

First thing you'll probably notice is that I don't run a Farseer here. I tried, but it ended up costing too many points on the HQs, so I was left with a choice of a Doomseer with a squad of Banshees or Autarch with Spiders. Doom is great, as are Runes of Warding, don't get me wrong. But Autarch gives me that tactical ability of +1 to Reserve rolls, which could be a lifesaver against certain lists.

Also, Fire Dragons aren't in the list. They're stupidly good at what they do, that much is obvious even from reading through their wargear and cost. But after much consideration I've left them out because they ended up being too costly with their own Serpent for a suicidal squad and a battle tank with 3 S6 AP5 shots.

Otherwise, what do you think of the list?

You seem to play like tau. Your list has no hand to hand punch. It may be helpful to have a counter-striking unit or delay unit. I suggest outflanking scorpions or maybe a squad of harlies in reserve.

true, but Eldar are one of the few armies that actually win and fight with no or little CC capability, if you do it right.

you could change your Exarch powers to Defend, Shimmer Shield, and a PW.

you could remove the Pathfinders for more Spiders, or the Holofields on you Prisms for more Pathfinders.

either way, the issue i see there is that you have some decent units that don't have the numbers to wither some fire.

good hunting.

Thanks for the feedback!

To Stephen_Newman - I have the option of adding Striking Scorpions into the mix, not really as a close combat specialist unit, but as another infantry squad that will help with target saturation. I would have to replace Scatterlasers on my War walkers to Shuriken cannons and remove Holofields from Fire Prisms to do it. That will need some playtesting.

To Inquisitor Malaclypse - DA Exarch with shimmershield, power weapon and defend costs a bit too many points just to give them a little more survivability. And I don't have any close combat specialist like Banshees to tarpit a unit until they arrive to finish them off.

In this list and from various feedback I've received, it looks better to me to have more squads with less models than less squads with more models. Because I need to spread out the opponent's fire, give them something to shoot at while my tanks do their thing. Pathfinders will wither crazy amounts of fire, unless there are deep striking flamers around and Spiders with the Autarch are amazingly mobile, so the amount of shots being fired on them will be reduced. I've seen them take incredible amount firepower and survive.

At larger point games, I will certainly be including close clombat specialist units, but for now, I think my Spiders + Autarch combo are there if I absolutely have to keep something from shooting. Plus they're faster than any CC unit I've seen in the game so far.
