So I've been out of the hobby for a while, a couple of months, and I just can't seem to gather the inspiration needed to paint my Death Guard. I headed into my local GW to see what could inspire me, and now, I have something.

My local GW is having an "1000 pt Armies on parade" with 20 factions of Space Marines. All 18 founding legions, The Fallen and Grey Knights making 20. I took the position of World Eaters to inspire my Khorne faction for my Death Guard force. I asked if I could paint the scheme as "Blood Disciples" with World Eaters as well and it was approved. So...

I bought a box of space wolf skyclaws for some Raptors and also have the new Blood Angel/Tyrannid box set on order, I'll convert up some of the Blood Angels into Khorne marines and I'll have myself a force!

I could use some help making a 1000pt force with a majority of raptors to fit the fluff of Blood Disciples.

Thanks in advance.

Why not a Jump pack Apostle of khorne, with 10 raptors of khorne and dual melta, 10 cultists, 5 marines w/meltagun & bolters, another 5 raptors with dual flamer. You should still have enough points to add 2 rhinos with 7 + 7 khorne marked havocs with 4x meltaguns...
Quick, lots of meltas, all tooled up for a good brawl :)

Edit: you could swap a havoc unit for some more raptors with meltaguns and MoKorne, of course...

True that works as well... I was more thinking for a display army a Flying lord with a big axe is allways fun!

But an apostle works well.

Eh, at 1000pts I have found the Apostle to be quite a powerful HQ.. (even at higher levels, as the re-rolls put allot of pressure on marines to fail their saves in CC)

But I have just realized the Apostle cannot have a jump pack as its Special Issue wargear, same as the Bike.

So I completely forgot about this thread!

I ended up making a force that was relatively cheap (dollars wise) as I'm currently going through a thing called "life". Got engaged, planning on buying a block of land and putting a house on it, going to Germany at the end of the year, fuck, its all happening!

Anyway, i ended up doing a fluffy force, it's not going to win many games but I think it'll be fun either way.

I ended up with:

Chaos lord: Termi armour, Hammer of Blind Justice (AoBF proxy, stolen Blood Angels relic), Power Fist, MoK, melta bombs. 190

3x Termis: MoK, 3x Fists, IoW.

7x Zerkers: IoW

7x Zerkers: IoW

10x Raptors: 2x Melta guns, MoK, IoW, Lightning claw and melta bombs.

Comes out at 997 points.

Like I said, I'm not expecting to win a lot of battles but I think the fluff is there.

I'd probably swap one fist for a power axe, here, just to have a sacrificial wound to throw out first. Plus, well, that's almost a lightning claw on a zerker champ or something.

With the AoBF and meltabombs, you have enough of a threat spectrum to take out nearly everything without having to fall back on that fist, basically ever. Ok, Wraithknights would provide a bit of a problem, and if you want to give a T6 MC the chance to AP2 Smash your termis to strike last and wound at 2+... that's your choice, but the fact remains: against the vast majority of stuff in the game, S6 (7 on the assault) AP2 I5 is going to wreck a helluvalotta face, and meltabombs will take care of vehicles. Plus, you know, chainfists.

If you're really committed to the modeling or something, I'd drop the meltabombs and keep the fist--but honestly, I find the AoBF and a bolt pistol complement each other well. Not only are you avoiding a specialist weapons for yet one more axe attack, you're also allowing yourself to batter ineffectually with your pistol if you assault a squishy unit you don't want to wipe, but want to lock in combat through the enemy shooting phase... (wait, Termi. Damn. Would have to buy a plasma pistol for such ineffectual battering, which... meh)

I expect you probably realize I'm going to praise the merits of bikes over raptors, so I'll accept your decision here and move on.

I'd try to get Rhinos for those Zerkers... but I dunno where the points are coming from, unless you drop half your Raptors, which frankly strikes me as unlikely. Though you could drop the power fist and a chainfist and be a good ways toward a first, there...

I hear you loud and clear Mossy, unfortunately being a tournament setting, the models have to have in their equipment, what they have as models, hence the strange load outs. In any other battle I'd be doing this, but seeing as its as much about the fluff behind the army as it is winning the battle. And seeing as it's my first "tournament" I'm not expecting great things. I heard the Dark Angels player is doing a full Ravenwing force, the GK player is loaded with a land raider (and an inquisitor I believe), ravenguard player has a lot of sternguard I heard too, so either way, I don't think I'll be winning any battles.
