Hey guys,

Just played out my first games with my new chaos army. It went really well. Both were against my friends blood angels army. The first one was a nail biter that I would have won if the game didn't go on and I won the second game hands down. I am really happy with the way all of the units performed, they all did exactly what I had wanted them to do. And without further delay, here is the list:

Hq 130:
Chaos Lord (Run him with the Warp talons)
-Jump Pack
-Lightning Claws
-Aura of dark glory
-Veterans of the long war

Troops 340:
5 CSM in a rhino melta, close combat weapons and a melta on the rhino 140
5 CSM in a rhino melta, close combat weapons and a melta on the rhino 140
9 Cultists with autoguns + Champion 59

Fast attack 330:
Heldrake 170
Warp Talons 160

Heavy Support 200:
Forgefiend with Hades Autocannons and Ectoplasma Cannon 200

Total: 999

the cultist champion cannot take an autogun, so that saved you an almighty 1 point.

i personally am not a fan of the warp talons (besides looks) and the forge fiend, but all in all its a good list.

Thanks for the heads up on the cultists, that was a brain fart on my part, I knew that. Change has been made.

About the warp talons and forgefiend though, have you used them in a game? The warp talons ripped through marines like they were nothing. Especially with my jump pack lord running with them. The forgefiend busted up many a vehicle while recovering a hull point in the process. Neither unit let me down in the slightest; and you are right, they look amazing as well.

if by mech you mean his furioso, he didn't use it. otherwise i'm not too sure what you mean... but when i do face it, it will be greeted with meltas.

Well, sorry for giving ntaw advice against you. Though I suppose if I convinced him to keep the Stormraven, and you destroyed it and its inhabitants in the second game (he posted a summary of the games on his own army list thread), I might have actually done you some good! ...how did you destroy it, though? A lucky melta hit?

Well, I gave him some advice, so the least I can do is give you some, too.

A point to remember--you can only buy one-shot combi-meltas on the Rhinos, not a normal melta (though at all other times it is an extra bolter in addition to the basic combi-bolter on the Rhino).

First off, what is your Lord doing for the Warp Talons that the Warp Talons don't already do very well? A handful more LC attacks at a higher WS and I for 130 points? You could almost buy a whole second squad of Warp Talons for that. I'd say make him different, somehow: say, give him an AP2 weapon to threaten enemy Terminators or an enemy character in artificer armor who they get locked in a challenge with. For instance: for only 10 more points than a pair of lightning claws, you can get a lightning claw and a power fist. Fisticlaws are wonderful, since you get to choose which one to use every turn--want to take out a tank? PF. Marines? LC. Since both are specialist weapons, you still get your bonus attack. Another option: get the MoK and buy the Axe of Blind Fury, which transforms your Lord into an absolute monster in terms of attacks--on the charge, 6+D6 S6 I5 AP2 attacks. Well worth a slightly lower WS. You'll massacre anybody.

Basically: change up the Lord's options from those of the Warp Talons for greater versatility and killiness.

As you increase toward 1500 points, I'd try to double the size of those CSM and Cultist squads.

Just looked up that axe with MoK, loving it. I think I am going to model two separate lords one with a power fist and lightning claw and one with that axe.

One issue I see is the lack of support you have the fiend but can only fire on one unit and at that it only hits 50% of the time. Once ur csm's get up close there only striking at str4 ap0. The talons kick but up close but at over 30 points apiece in a 1000 pt army they can be hard to justify. You seem to really like cc. I'd suggest putting a mark of khorne on ur lord and taking units of berzerkers. Other marines will have a huge issue with the baleflamer so I can't see dropping the talons being Terrible, and make the lord less of a talon he alone with the chaos artefact axe can wipe out squads of marines. Something mossy told me for my army was to deploy my lord with the cultists to make them fearless
My experience with the fiend wasn't good it. The ectoplasma is inconsistent another heldrake might do better or even a land raider.
I do like your list I used to run a similar one it however got tore to shreds by tau and ig

I am going to be adding a second heldrake for sure. And yeah I plan to run my lord with another unit, or alone (yet to be decided) that Khorne axe is just too good. For now I only have to play against marines. When I have new adversaries to face I will definitely run a different list. But from playing this list twice against marines I was quite impressed. A couple tweaks here and there and it should be good.
