Been a few months since my last game. Playing again this Saturday, had the following 1000 pt list in mind:

HQ - Farseer
Doom, RoWit, Singing Spear
= 93 points

Troop - 10 Dire Avengers
Exarch upgrade, Bladestorm, Dual Shuriken Catapults
Wave Serpent
Twin-Linked EML, SS
= 282 points

Troop - 5 Dire Avengers
(Mounted in Falcon as DAVU)
= 60 points

Troop - 3 Guardian Jetbikes
= 66 points

Heavy Support - Falcon
SL, Holofields, SS
= 175 points

Heavy Support - Fire Prism
Holofields, SS
= 160 points

Heavy Support - Fire Prism

= 160 points

Total:

drop the Holofields. i prefer them typically, but if you drop all of them from your tanks you have anough for a unit of War Walkers, another cheap Farseer.

it's a pricey upgrade at 1k points.

good hunting.
Fair enough, though with only 3 Heavy slots War Walkers aren't an option unless I drop the Falcon or one of the Prisms. I could of course switch the Falcon for a Wave Serpent and then get Walkers

yeah, my mistake on the War Walker comment. in only mentioned off handedly as i really wasn't sure what you could try to get for 105 pts.

TBH, after a better glance, i would upgrade the Serpent with 10 DA to have TL BL, drop the Serpent on the 5 man DA squad, and put that DA squad in the Falcon.

by dropping the three Holofields and that Serpent you could increase your DA Jetbikes and include two units of them, well kitted out with upgrades, giving you four scoring units in a 1k list.

any points left could be used to upgrade your Farseer some, and lastly, i would change out Bladestorm and the current gear on the DA Exarch for PW, Shimmershield and Defend.

and thanks for the rep, and back at you!

good hunting.
First off, thanks for your help so far. If the following comments are a bit incoherent that's because I'm half asleep.

Definitely worth considering

Well I don't have that many Jetbike models to be honest, so that's going to be difficult (don't want to ruin my fully painted and WYSIWYG army by proxying stuff )

I personally prefer Bladestorm to defensive DAs - partly because of the fun I've had with Bladestorm so far.

Again, thanks!
Your list looks pretty solid so far so I just have a few suggestions.

First, you might want to look at trying to field 2 units of 10 avengers (upgrades aren't so important) to work with your Doomseer.

Second, in your current lists you have plenty of anti-infantry units (walkers/prisms/avengers), but lack anything to effectively and consistently deal with high AV—180 pts for a fire dragon squad would definitely be something to look in to.

Lastly, drop the SS on your Fire Prisms and use the points elsewhere.
heh, no problems. i understand about being limited by models.

good luck whatever you decide!

A full Squad of avengers does have the advantage of putting out quite a few shots. A DAVU squad is essentially meant to stay in a transport.

I don't know - my opponent plays Tau so the highest AV he has is 13 at the front. A hail of Scatter Lasers is enough to punch through his rear armour if I'm lucky (Walkers + Outflank + lots of shots), or even to glance his side armour. Adding to that I can take a BL on the Serpent, and there's the high strength of a focused Prism shot to consider (though I'll probably be using the Prism Cannon against infantry primarily).

Lastly, drop the SS on your Fire Prisms and use the points elsewhere.
Came to this conclusion myself too - a Fire Prism that can't shoot is worthless regardless of it's ability to move.

So how about this then:

HQ - Farseer
Doom, RoWit, Singing Spear
= 93 points

Troop - 10 Dire Avengers
Exarch upgrade, Bladestorm, Dual Shuriken Catapults
Wave Serpent
Twin-Linked EML, SS
= 282 points

Troop - 10 Dire Avengers
Wave Serpent
Twin-Linked BL, SS, SC
= 275 points

Heavy Support - Fire Prism
= 115 points

Heavy Support - Fire Prism
= 115 points

Heavy Support - 2 War Walkers
2x SL each
= 120 points

Total: 1000 points

pretty decent again.

i'd roll with you latest list, it's very solid.

This is true.
My primary concern was AV 14 targets and mech/meq-heavy armies but, I guess you won’t run into this frequently at 1000 points (especially if you know your primary opponent is tau).

The most recent list you posted looks great and should do well.
Good luck with your game(s)!
