I have been playing 40k for a couple years now, and am thinking about dabbling in Chaos Daemons a bit. I have never actually met anyone here who plays this army, so I'm a little apprehensive about it. Then again, it could be chalked up to 'space marine' syndrome... :)
At any rate here is what I'm thinking about starting off with. I like the idea of a single god force, and cc being what it is in 5th Khorne seems well suited to the role. Bloodletters ought to shred infantry with their power weapons and there are a few flying MC to handle the antitank role.
Any suggestions are appreciated!

Yeah, its a good looking list. I would normally suggest that you've spent too much on the big MCs but khorne really needs its winged MCs to be able to catch and kill enemy vehicles (vehicles are hard for all daemon armies to deal with, but khorne suffers worse then any of the others).
Skulltaker is a nice option if you play tyranids often (and he's decent against everyone else) and units of bloodcrushers are basically khornate terminators, although if you want any I would wait for the release of the new plastic models later in the year. The hounds are a favorite of some people, though I cant say I care too much for them (and although the models look awesome they are very expensive).

1000 points your not going to be facing too much in terms of armor over 10 or 11. Although I love the Bloodthirster, another option to look at for the same point cost is 2 Heralds. Both will have Unholy Might and on a Juggernaut, and 1 can have Rend. The good thing about this is they still can move like the Bloodthirster, but you can hide them with the Bloodletters so you cant be singled out and shot at. Join them in the unit of Bloodletters when you deep strike, then next turn, you can always move then out of the unit if you wish. I'm not saying the Bloodthirster wont work. He will. Just throwing out another option for you to consider.

Thanks for the advice guys! I am definitely eyeballing Skulltaker as my other HQ, maybe for a bigger game. That dude is awesome.

After proxying some games against space marines and blood angels I am relatively pleased. Bloodletters are really tough to get the assault with, but if enough of them are on the board it works out. Having only MC's to tank hunt gets a little hairly when something like a land raider shows up. Even if I have to bring forces of another god, what would you guys say is the best thing we can use to kill something like a LR?

Screamers of Tzeentch are Jetbikes with Meltabombs, so Deepstrike them closeby, but behind a building or something so they don't get shot up.
Then next turn zoom up and pop it.
Soul Grinders and their tongue is another option. Basically it's a Railgun with shorter range.
However, one shot hitting on a 4+ isn't exactly the best anti-landraider to lean on.

Bloodthirster on the otherhand is handy. 12" move, 6" charge.
Let's say the Landraider DID NOT move. His 6 attacks auto hit. You gave him Unholy Might. So Strength 8. But wait, he's a Monstrous Creature! So he gets an extra D6 for penetration. And look at that. You have 6 hits with what are essentially Melta-bombs.
