I'm playing against 2 friends this evening guard and a pure gre knight. I'm using my marine 300pts against 2 1500pts. any tips or ideas?

the guard will be plasma and lascannon heavy with 2 demolishers and 1 battle tank.

the greayknights basically a set list.

comments within the next 5-10 mins would be great but i'll just read the later ones tomorrow to see what I could do different.

As a IG player myself, I recommend anything that can deepstrike/infiltrate/jump with anti-tank weapons, this will definitely scare the IG player and can usually get you to tie up stationary heavy weapons groups if he is playing the standard gunline style and trying to sit back and shoot. Obviously multiple squads with this are preferable, lone squad a turn will be a liability against a heavy line. If you have played either of them before you already know their style, try to find one for yourself that can work against both. If you think you can out cc the grey knights, then i would try to get into assault range asap.

As I thought I would, I lost. :ireful2: I had lost by turn 3 we did a DIY senario.

Both sides had 3 buildings in their set up zones, for every scoring unit you have an opositions building you gain 1 point and the winner is who ever has the most points. at the end of the game knowone had any units in any building i didn't have any scoring units at all. I blame my loss on nnot getting first turn, my terrible rolling and the gurad had more plasma weapons and lascannons thaen he did lasguns. yes utter cheese.

bad luck chap.

my best advice when playing 1 on 2 battles is go all out for one opponent and then turn on the other, also sounds like you were up against a guard static gun line. Always try to keep on the move, three weapons i know kill marines really well, are multi-lasers, and the hell hound tanks, and plasma.
When your losing marines your in trouble. Your an elite army, and so need every man. Get toe to toe with the guard fast you will always come off better. Also against the GN your best of shooting from cover and then if it still looks bad charge out of cover to face them bringing in another squad to cover them, if you loss the combat, your in range to rapid fire the enemy and really chew them up.

My mate who plays guard all the time used to chew my ass every time i faced him with my marines, but now im learning some nasty tricks too.

i agree with logain on this one. go all out for one opponent, concentrate your fire and try keep out of the secondary players firing arcs to minimise losses. ita much easier to deal with one problem at a time than try on two fronts. take a lesson from history. Hitler tried two fronts, and lost. it rarely works.

target the toughest enemy first, as you will have a larger force to combat him with. then move to the weaker target. you will have a smaller force, but because he is the weaker combatant, you wont need your full strength force to attack him and win.
