One of my friends wants to start a CSMarine Khorne army and asked me to make a decent competitive list for him. I was under the impression that Zerkers love running out of LRaiders and also know that they are best when paired so please tell me what you think.

165
Kharn
(Goes with the Bezerker unit w/o the Icon)

185
5x CTerminators: 2x PFists, 2x Combi-Melta, HFlamer

208
8x KBerzerkers: Champ w/PFist
(Ride in a LRaider w/Kharn)

213
8x KBerserkers: Champ w/PFist, PIcon
(Ride in the other LRaider)

156
12x LDeamons
(A very good shock/tie-up unit [in my experience])

220
LRaider

220
LRaider

130
CPredator: LCannon sponsons
(Decent and cheap transport/MCreature killer)

It's difficult to get a good list at 1,500 with 2 LR's, because it's hard to make it effective.
If your gonna do Khorne, you want 3 Troops of 'Zerkers, i say that as a wise choice after me playing ALOT of games with my Khorne, before deciding on my list, Khorne Berserkers hurtle towards your enemy, and are not given space, because people know they kick-ass in combat. So those 2 Raiders will get ALL the attention. I know LR's are hard to blow up, but it happens, you don't wanna lose 8 'Zerkers and a LR on your first turn, simply because your opponent has fired EVERYTHING at it.

I think the army list is too dependant on your LR's, without both of them, your absolutely sunk. You need the extra scoring units. And i stress that.

It might not be Khorne, but if your looking for competitive, you need to have troops left to run at an objective on the last turn if necessary.

I invite you to browse my Khorne Compendium (Link in Signature) to have a look through. There are about 27 Khorne Dedicated lists, so i think there will be a list in there you and/or your mate takes interest in, and can edit to your/his/her comfort

Good Warring :wild:

i agree with both previous posts.

personally, drop the termies to take two Oblits, give your LRs Possession and a dozer blade.

get those buggers into combat!

lastly, if you have points, a small squad with IoK to sit at home with a plasma gun is a good idea.

good hunting.

... I hate Oblits ...

Alrighty then, I've looked through a good number of Zerker lists and revamped the entire list so stay with me here:

140
DPrince: MoK, Wings
(cheap MCreature/fire-magnet)

155
CLord: MoK, PoLClaws, MBombs, JPack
(goes with the Raptor unit)

105
CDreadnought: MLauncher, HFlamer
(cheap Dread/fire-magnet, choose Missles so if he goes nuts I can switch the type of ammo, only ranged support in the army)

105
CDreadnought: *same as above

105
CDreadnought: *same as above

243
8x KBerzerkers: Champ w/ PFist, Rhino

243
8x KBerzerkers: *same as above

243
8x KBerzerkers: *same as above

160
8x CRaptors
(kinda upset that I couldn't give them any wargear)

1499pts

So is this one any better or should I stick with first one?

clever move with the ML; i'll have to remember that.

why not Kharn and a Chaos Lord with a Blood Feeder?

since your much against the Oblits termicide could be critical to your list: OK, so i said to drop the termies in a previous post, but that was before you drastically changed your list.

the only concern i have for heavy Berzerker lists is that they could spend too much time killing transports. enemy transports need to be dead by the time the 'Zerkers close in.

good hunting.

WHAT?!?!?!?!?! How? they are 2 wound Termies that can take multiple heavy weapons and move and shoot. They adapt to situations better then any heavy weapon in the game imo. Not to mention they can take flamers if things get close AND hold their own in cc. I mean sure they can be popped but for 75 points a model they make their points back at very least I would say 85% of the time.

Yup, as un-Khorne as they are, They literally are... AMAZING.

Obliterators ftw.

Sadly you just have no Long range support... Which is vital :\ You'll have to change quite alot to fit some Termicide units in.

Don't try and play Chaos like Daemons, you have 6/7 HS choices, with long ranged weaponry, take advantage of it.

You dont "NEED" range. If you dont use range you now need to ensure in some way that all your cc units are getting into range without getting stalled or shot up. Its a tricky process but can reap great reward.

Don't get me wrong, I know alot about getting to combat, seeing as my list is a 23 Berserker list, with no other troops. So it's literally about charging to combat, And what i've found is 2 Battle cannons and 2 Lascannons helps that alot. Infact my Battlecannons win me games more than i like.

So i disagree. You do need long range support. It's not called 'Support' for no reason.

And don't argue the point that you just need to get into combat or whatever. I play Khorne, and i win games, I know what i'm doing in this area.

@Inquisitor Malaclypse & ROT: I see what you guys are saying and thats why I added in the Dreads with MLs. I tried to think of a ranged transport killer that wouldn't get let behind by the rest of the army but I guess 3x MLaunchers probubly won't cut it. I'll try to switch some more ideas around.

I don't really see how Termicide or Deepstriking Oblits are going to help this list a whole lot. You need to get your troops in close to use them and if I'm already that close I can just run a Dread/DPrince/Zerkers at the transports. Also how do your Battlecannons help you out? Do you target the transports with them?

@Chaosftw: Hate maybe too strong of a word, I just don't like the fact everyone thinks of them as the be all end all HS slot for CSM. In my experiences with them you get 1 shot for 75 pts that will die to a Str 8+ weapon just as easily as a Havoc member (if them are both in cover which them should be anyway).

Me personally would rather field a Vindicator or Las-Predator to do one speciffic job for cheaper.

Hey why not a Greater Daemon in your list? You only need to sacrifice one champ of your choosing for such a killy model. :D and he's super cheap for what he can do. ppl overlook his capabilities and his cost effectiveness because his timing is too unreliable but thats just a minor problem. *((though the model itself is not cheap....))** and it would fit your khorne theme really well. especially if you add raptors with a vanilla champ to take the sacrifice plus they get into combat pretty fast but if you can outfit them for tank hunting duty.

just my 2 cents.

@XxDreMisterxX: I've used the Greater Deamon before in a "vanilla" CSM armylist I made a while back and it did well, I just needed more ranged anti-tank for this list. I had the CC aspect with the Princes and Zerkers.

Ok thanks guys for all the advice. I went back to look at ROT's lists again and decided to use the first 1,500pt list and adjust some points around for some other models I wanted to use. The next time I run a game I'll let you know how it goes.

i just thought termicide would be more useful than a naked, no wargear having Raptor squad. at least with termicide you get 3 combi-weapons and a small numbers boost in melee.

i do agree with you though, as much as like Oblits. they're an easy fix to Chaos lists, but not the end all be all some players claim they are. depends on the list.

wait...what the crap...3 land raiders?!?!?!?!? thats crazy...thats bonkers...that...i like it! limited options, you'll have to hit one side of their army at a time but if you do it just right their screwed hard... deffinatly looks like something fun and effective to try.

Wow...I might borrow another LR to try that list.

Though, I wouldn't bother with DP as you're probably going to be going 12" a turn anyway. Just stick with EA.
