Ork Bigg Dreddnort Trukk

Ork Bigg Dreddnort Trukk

This one has been brewing for a while. Ever since I first saw the re-make of "Death Race". I did a couple of Ork car conversions inspired by the film a while back (see this gallery), but this just had to be done .......!

Basic kit is a Trumpeter 1/35 scale Chinese missile launcher. You can pick

That's brilliant! Really nice creation, well deserving of the title 'Ork'.

Actually there aren't any rivvittz in these pics - just the holes drilled ready. I have 3 main ways of making rivvittz (but still haven't got round to doing any of them on this beast yet).

1. Buy Grandt Line plastic mouldings from SB Models (www.sbmodels.net). There are several sizes and 2 shapes, 100 larger size or 300 smaller size in a pack for £2.75. Can work out expensive, but are brilliantly simple to use. Each has a "tail". Drill hole, snip rivet off sprue, pop rivet in hole with tweezers, drop of liquid poly, job done.

2. Buy Peco SL14 model railway track pins from a model railway shop. These are about £1.50 a pack: never counted how many, but guess 200. Use in same way as above, but needs Super Glue in the hole first. You may need to clip them short with cutters. If it's a hollow structure and you can't see in, I don't bother.

3. Make your own from plastic rod. Cheapest option, but mind-bendingly tedious. You'll need a lit candle as well as plastic rod (Slaters, Plastruct, etc): 0.75mm/40 thou diameter is good. Sprue is far too thick. If you hold the end of the rod close to the flame it will roll back to form a mushroom head. Allow to cool, snip off and use as above. Then keep on doing it over and over and over and over and over (see the drawback?)!
