Default How well does Warmachine and Hordes mesh?

Is there much of an imbalance between hordes and warmachine fighting one another?

I seriously love the idea of monsters clashing with machines and thing PP are only something incredibly cool with the idea.

Is the implementation sufficient though? Are horde lists able to stand up to warmachine lists or is it vice versa?

In a word: perfectly. Both systems are nearly identical in rules aside from a couple of stand alone issues that don't affect the other system in any way. And some of the newest model releases have rules in them that affect the rules of the other system as well as their own. There is absolutely no difficulty in meshing the two at all.

one thing I want is the ability to split my fire everywhere, it makes no sense that a squad of 10 guard or marines or whatever all have to fire at 1 target with everything, is the guy with the lascannon not smart enough to realize maybe he would be better off firing at the massive tank looming overhead instead of the little man no bigger than a squat running at him, or is that far too complex for the 10yr olds?

Yeah, the two games work with each other brilliantly. Which is a real bonus because it's great seeing monsters clash with collossal steam powered machines. PP have done a great job making the 2 able to mesh properly.

As stated already, they mesh perfectly, so much so that certain Warmachine armies can use certain units from Hordes (that is, if I recall correctly). And yes, seeing gigantic warbeast clash with enormous warjacks is an immensely pleasant sight to behold!

I really love the dynamic the two bring to each other when they are matched up.

I don't mind losing, it's fun either way!

Games I play: Warhammer 40k, Magic The Gathering, Pokemon TCG, Pirates CSG, Other random video games and TCGs.

The basics work the same, the way you generate and use your focus/fury is different. Warmachine is more top-down, with the caster distributing everything, while hordes the warbeasts generate their own "fury", which makes it a more organic distribution of power.

The two mesh well enough together that most tournaments are played as Warmachine/Hordes, rather than separately. From what I've gathered, they used to not play as nicely together in the previous version of the game, but with 2.0, they work very well together.

This is all just what I've gathered after researching warmachine over the last couple of weeks, so take what I say with a grain of salt, but it seems pretty good to me.

I had it explained to me as Focus is all about resource management, while Fury is risk management. If that makes sense? (It did to me, so there )

Honestly, Focus is something you want to collect, Fury is something you want to get rid of! It's an interesting dynamic, and it's good to play both. But, then again I HATE Warmachine's dynamic and models, and enjoy Hordes. So I'm crazy anyway.

The rulebooks are nearly 95% the same. The only differences are how fury and focus works. Focus is reliable in the fact you get the same amount each turn no matter what. When your wajacks start dying off it only makes the warjacks you have more powerfull as you have less jacks to spread focus. Hordes the more fury you use the more likely your warbeasts will go berzerk and do random stuff. Also the more warbeasts that die the less fury you can syphon from them. This is the reason you here about hordes bieng better during begining of games and warmachine bieng better during end game. I havent played a lot of hordes but ive seen it hold true for the most part and it does make a lot of sense.
