I'm quite the experienced Cryx player and this unit used to be very low on the power scale.
With the recent changes to the rules, this has changed however:
U can take a cheap unit (Mechanithralls) to block your expensive units (knights, ghosts, caster, ...) and put the Necrosurgeon in between. Your enemy will be shooting everything he has at the cheap unit to get through but he'll fail thanks to the Necrosurgeon. Last minute u move the mechanithralls out of the way and let your elite unit charge him. Ouch!
One very sick synergy is Lich Lord Terminus (T-man)with 2 necrosurgeons and a unit of Mechanithralls:
1 Necrosurgeon behind T-man to heal him. 1 Necrosurgeon with the mechanithralls who are close to T-man.
The enemy shoots T-man with ranged => transfer to mechanithrall (that is tough thanks to T-man). It dies?=> next turn it's back
The enemy shoots T-man with magic => the Necrosurgeon's heal him
The enemy comes in charge range => they die (T-man charges over his own models without harming them) and u still have your entire army.
