Default Cryx - Necrosurgeon

Hey, I recently picked up some warmachine units in the form of Cryx. I've been hearing great things about the necrosurgeon but I'm not sure I see it.

I understand they can make grunts and heal units. Healing is straight-forward but creating grunts isn't. I read about people making 3+ mechanithralls a turn with these guys but the way I see it, that requires a lot of dying models a turn - unless I'm missing something (at least 3 per raised model). Too me it seems like she's primarily for surgery and if she creates the odd model then cool.

Thoughts? How do I use her effectively?

I'm quite the experienced Cryx player and this unit used to be very low on the power scale.

With the recent changes to the rules, this has changed however:
U can take a cheap unit (Mechanithralls) to block your expensive units (knights, ghosts, caster, ...) and put the Necrosurgeon in between. Your enemy will be shooting everything he has at the cheap unit to get through but he'll fail thanks to the Necrosurgeon. Last minute u move the mechanithralls out of the way and let your elite unit charge him. Ouch!

One very sick synergy is Lich Lord Terminus (T-man)with 2 necrosurgeons and a unit of Mechanithralls:
1 Necrosurgeon behind T-man to heal him. 1 Necrosurgeon with the mechanithralls who are close to T-man.

The enemy shoots T-man with ranged => transfer to mechanithrall (that is tough thanks to T-man). It dies?=> next turn it's back

The enemy shoots T-man with magic => the Necrosurgeon's heal him

The enemy comes in charge range => they die (T-man charges over his own models without harming them) and u still have your entire army.

She also gains corpse tokens when living models die within range of she or her stitch thralls so she isnt only good when you are being creamed and frankly nothing tarpits like mechanithralls especially when backed up with a surgeon. In addition she was formerly a unit attachment to the McThralls, but is now a unit all her own. For 2 points she brings in 4 models that go excellently as sacrifices for Skarre pirate queen.
Skarre Pirate Queen
Skarlock Thrall
Necrosurgeon and Stitch Thralls

Skarlock casts Ritual Sacrifice every turn for free sacrificing a stitch thrall this grants skarre d6 additional focus next turn (3 stitches=3 turns of hugely boosted focus)
When skarre uses her feat for 5 damage the surgeon heals her up nice and tight so you have removed any risk using it. Noone should be lasting 4+ turns against that if you support it with bane thralls and McThralls to make good use of dark guidance
