Default New to Warmachine need help making army

From what i hear this game is pretty simple as far as picking an army goes, "pick what looks cool" is what ive been told. I played a game with my friends army and found some units i enjoyed using. i do know my warcaster is definitely going to be lich lord asphyxious. What ive decided so far to get is:

Lich Lord Asphyxious

Bane Thralls x6
Pistol Wraith
Maybe a Bloath Thrall

and whatever comes in the battle force i guess.

I honestly know very little and dont even know if the battleforce is worth getting, all i know is i'd like to use Lich Lord Asphixious and possibly the guys stated above, and advice on starting point lists or army set ups would be appreciated.

Fire off a PM to my buddy Logaan on here. He's quite the nasty Cryx player

I'm working on some Mercs, pirates to be precise and "picking whats cool" is pretty much all I've done

I play cryx but i have not used that caster.

I do have the bloat thrall and he is, due to rat and spd, a bit crap. great looking model tho.

Skarlock is pretty awesome.

Depending on soells, at least one arc node.

Seathers are great.

Here's a link to a thread from a while back where a guy was also interested in Gaspy (Asphyxious). I posted a pretty in depth look on how to start off with both versions of the caster. Gaspy2 being Lich Lord. Also has info on a few other casters.

Gaspy2 is my specialty!

What you want is an army that hits like a ton of bricks, right? Well you have come to the right place. First Gaspy can cast from his spell list caustic myst that damages models that enter or end their activation in the clouds. The caustic myst also hides your models from ranged attacks. Due to this I recommend fielding Bane Knights and alot of them. Take a seether, a couple arc nodes of choice, and three full units of Bane Knights. The Bane Knights have a rule called vengeance. If one or more models die from enemy fire, they get to move three inches and attack during the maintenance phase on your turn. With 30 Bane Knights it is impossible for them to take out all of them in one turn. A list should look like this:

35 point list
Gaspy2 +6 Warjack points
Seether 9 points
Bane Knights 10 points
Bane Knights 10 points
Bane Knights 10 points
Gorman 2 points

Death to the false Emperor!!!!
